My report on battery life so far
I've only had this device a short time (28th) but I want to give a quick report out on the battery life. I have a Galaxy S6 Edge for comparison. My usage is moderate and I spend most of my SoT surfing the net on Chrome, sending text messages, listening to music, and I also have a few 15-20 minute phone calls per day.
On my S6 Edge I averaged about 3-3.5 hours SoT and this was done through toggling off many settings and features. I had turned off some location services, VoLTE, some wifi services, nfc, and really had to disable quite a bit to get to 3-3.5 hours SoT. I know others are claiming much higher usage but these are my stats. The standby drain was just really not that good. If I didn't use it at all and unplugged at 6am it would be at 50% by 6pm.
The G4 I'm averaging about 4.5-5 hours SoT so far. This is leaving everything on. Not toggling off any settings. I have disabled some of the bloat but I haven't messed with settings too much. All location services on etc... The standby is amazing. If I unplug at 6am it would probably be at 94% or more by 6pm. It only drains about 2-4% overnight. I don't know what LG does right or Samsung does wrong regarding standby but it's a very noticeable difference.
So far I'm very pleased.

Re: My report on battery life so far
nice! So far im only getting 3hr45mins because of all my gaming, so if i can restrain myself one day i'd liek to see what kind of SOT i can really get lol
-
Re: My report on battery life so far
Good to know! I'll be putting mine through the paces today. Hopefully I get a similar experience.
-
Re: My report on battery life so far
Its like me 3 days in I'm averaging. 4 1/2 to 5+ which is awesome (but yet some still complain with this average)
Dont know why & it has quick charge
One cant really complain right 😜

Re: My report on battery life so far
Weird. I have a Sprint G4 and the battery life is underwhelming. With almost 6 hours of usage on battery, i only got 2 hours left. Moderate use. Appears that GPS set to high accuracy totally drains this thing. I set it back to battery saver.
The device doesn't seem to automatically toggle for the apps that really need GPS high accuracy setting (i.e. Google Maps)
how do you find out the SOT on the device?
-
Settings, Management, Battery Usage, then touch Screen to open it.

Re: My report on battery life so far
I think that is a general android way to get SOT. My G4 is different. Battery usage screen just gives you usage on battery, estimated time to fully charge, and Last 3 h in use.

But in your screenshot, where it says Battery Use Details, can't you scroll to reveal the breakdown of what has used the battery?

Yep. It said Android system was using up 30 percent. You can tap on it and it will tell you the services that it was using. I didn't look closely but didn't find anything out of the ordinary.
After I restarted phone. The screen seems to take up the most battery. Which is expected.

Re: My report on battery life so far
I've got to say, my battery life has been spectacular so far compared to my S6. Granted I've only had the phone for a little over a day, but ice been off the charger since 8 am this morning and am still at 70% at about 3pm. This is with fairly heavy usage of the phone. Kudos to LG.
-
Re: My report on battery life so far
Took mine off the charger yesterday around 2pm. Plugged in the AT&T SIM. Now I haven't really used it much, but it hasn't been on the charger either. I've done several speed tests. Sent several Emails. Took some screen shots and some pictures. Made a few phone calls. Nothing major. Have yet to mess with any settings, so it's setup stock with everything turned on. I'm at 53% right now. I'd say that's pretty good.

You should never have to turn off standard features on a phone just to get 3-3.5 hours of SoT, which I am also averaging on my S6. I am highly suspicious of anyone who claims they get 5+ hours of SoT on the S6/S6 edge, especially with only a 2550/2600 mAh battery.
I'm really glad the G4 is doing so much better while allowing you to leave the standard features turned on.

That's not how I am reading the graph. Each block is an hour I think. Reading from peak at 80 percent dropping down to about 50 percent which is 1.5 blocks = 1.5 hours.
Unless I am wrong?

Just looked at battery usage graph. 18 percent drop over 3 hours good?

Re: My report on battery life so far
I don't understand how you guys are getting such great battery life?!!? Although it is an improvement over the s3 I'm a bit disappointed. Thought I'd get at least 12 hours battery life. Think the longest I've had was about 10 hours.

Re: My report on battery life so far
Have you looked at the battery consumption and checked to see if there was a particular app that was using the battery unduly-or if it seemed to be the screen, etc?
I'm sure by now you have powered it on and off :)
If nothing else, get the free battery via the offer and see if it does better. Sometimes, batteries are not up to snuff.
-
Re: My report on battery life so far
Yeah seems to be the screen taking up most of the battery. I try to keep it as low as possible but when you're outside turning it all the way is a must.
I did sign up for the free battery with LG. Haven't heard anything though.

That doesn't seem right, I have a 19 month old LG Optimus g pro and am averaging 14 hours since unplugged and about 3.5 hours SOT. I just ordered my G4 Monday, don't have it yet to compare. I really hope this isn't a typical battery life for this phone

I'd keep an eye on that and if it does that again, I'd take it back to Verizon.
I usually use the phone as is out if the box till it's around 15% and then charge to 100%. It takes a couple days for things to settle down after installing everything. At least that's what I've noticed.

Last time I checked sot and battery.
I had sot of 4 hrs with battery about 20% left.
I was on WiFi's some of the time
I think 4 hrs sot was the best I have gotten on my G4.
The G4 gets me though the day easy, without having to charge, which works for me.

Forgot to add mines the H815 model

Oops! Yeah, you have the carrier free of mess model! How could you forget?!? lol! :p Mine (H815 model as well! ;)) is doing great! Haven't really checked my screen on time but I usually have more than 50% at the end of my day with my usage. Its been much better than my G3 but my G3 also got me through the day as well.

That was the first thing that jumped out at me too. It shouldn't be losing or not reporting 10%. I'd go back to VZW and show them this. They should give you a new battery, or another phone.

Also, I'm not using mine as my main device, because it's the International Version and will not work on Verizon's network. I'm on AT&T's GoPhone plan that only has 1.5GB each month. FOr this reason, I'm doing a lot of WiFi surfing and testing and very little 4G testing.
I still think I'd be comfortable going all day with it if it was my main carry phone.

Re: My report on battery life so far
Here lately I've been getting right at 4 hours SOT on my AT&T S6.
Had my T-Mobile G4 since yesterday (2 full charges so far) and I've been coming in at just under 4 hours SOT. T-Mobile is great where I'm at and the reception is mostly in line with AT&T's here in Dallas (wideband and band 12 deployed. So, battery is not at all attributable to signal issues. Obviously need a few more days to form a conclusion but a little disappointed so far in terms of battery. There's alot I love about the G4. Going to be tough to decide between it and the S6

I agree with "DSMpowerhousegroup" here, I have an S6 and would never get less than 4 hours SOT, unless I was using it heavily for calls (which is rare, haha). I've had my S6 since May 12th and I have not needed to charge it during the day even once. 16 hours a day with 4+ SOT, no problem. I never use nearly that much most days, I'm typically at around 30-40% by the end of my typical day, so it suits my needs. I don't turn everything off, nor do I toggle anything or use power-saving on it. I have a list of my settings and screenshots here (I did an S6 review shortly after getting it):
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sam...ove-phone.html
Having said that, the G4 looks like a great phone. I'm happy with my S6, but I'm sure I'd be happy if I got the G4 as well. All I'm doing here is trying to dispel all the negativity about the S6 battery. Based on most of these replies in this thread, my S6 battery is on par. The fast charging and wireless charging are great features, as well. Of course, if mine DID run out, I wouldn't be able to swap it out for another, so +1 to G4, right? :)

End of the day battery shot before going on the charger. I could have probably hit 5 hrs SOT if I didn't have to charge it. It needs to be done charging by 1215 so I can crash. I don't like leaving my phone plugged in the whole night when I'm sleeping.
My battery life is slowly getting better.

With out of the box settings and 3 hours of gaming, I get 5 hours of SoT with about 16 hours of standby with my S6. Here is my latest screen shots with slight tweaks that I do for all my phones, with no gaming or what I consider light use (totally on 4g and no wifi at all)...
