LG g4 proximity sensor always on when screen is turned off.

If the screen is on, but before unlock, proximity sensor is on as well. It will turn off only after unlock the screen to home screen.

Will it cause battery drain and infrared light burned out/dead after being *"ON" all the time?

It is infrared, so you can only tell if you use another camera or phone look at it.
it is easy to test, just look proximity sensor with another camera or phone camera (that can see infrared, can be test with your TV remote)

Can any one at least let me know if its just my phone or all LG G4 do this.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the G4 forum.

This may be related to the Double-Tap-to-Wake feature, so that the phone does not switch on in your pocket because of 'taps' caused by body movement.

I covered up the proximity sensor, it still allow double clicks to wake up.

I know Samsung has air gasture, but LG does not have it.

any one know how to disable it?

Any one has the same problem?

I am fine with it is on, but worry soon, it will burn out, since it only has limited life.

I dunno. When I put my hand over the proximity sensor on my G4 double tap to wake will not work, period. Remove my hand, double tap works normally. There is no doubt in my mind that this is why the proximity sensor is always on (to avoid unintended screen wakes), and I'm sure it was designed to not burn out over the expected long term life span of the device.

    JayWill, you are correct.
I think I did not cover it completely the first time.
I just cover it up and double taps did not wake up the phone.

Also, just went to store and checked other LG G4,
ALL LG G4s' proximity sensors are on WHEN screen is OFF.
So, LG G4 users, expecting infrared led light go out after reach its lifespan.
Hoping they are cheap to replace.

It's a fair question, and I'm not familiar with IR LEDs.

But with that said, many devices have LEDs that are constantly illuminated for years at a time. Your DVD player, things like that.

So hopefully these have a similar lifespan.
