Have 3 G4's on my Verizon account 2 have had boot loop, one was this week, stuck on the "life's not good screen". Both were out of warranty. Both of those were replaced with Pixel XL's, like the G6 but LG has left a bad taste.

My G4 in the 508-batch of serial numbers bootlooped out of nowhere yesterday. Up until then, the phone had been working fine. Took it to T-Mobile & they're sending me a replacement. I'm pretty sure it will be a refurb - but now I know to check the serial number.

Just by chance, I had backed up all my photos on Friday - so I'm not really out much. I absolutely love the camera on my G4 & don't particularly want to go back to a Samsung. I'm using my Galaxy S3 as a backup at the moment. Holy moly - that thing is small.

    Sorry to hear.

I faced the boot loop woe's 3 times and was given a G5 to replace it.

I agree about the camera. Really liked it at the time. We now have the G6 and it's such a great device. Best phone by LG, I'd say best on the market currently.

I have 2 LG G4 that I purchsed from Verizion about a year and a half ago (for me and my husband) and both have gone to bootloop in a single week (352s). Last week, boom he gets the boot loop after much trouble and learning of this problem I realize I have to send it into LG and had to buy a temp phone to hold me over (Amazon has an ad sponsored $60 Alcatel A30 verizion capable phone now, which isn't awful for the price even if not great). I figured ok so wouldn't be too bad just in case I ever got the same boot loop and BOOM mine goes within 5 days of my husbands in some awful stroke of bad luck and I had to go buy a second temp phone. Seems my husbands phone was repaired for free by LG and is on it's way back and now and mine is on it's way to LG. TO LGs credit they seem to have my husbands LG G4 for a day or two before it was repaired(replaced?) and sent back at no cost. Still pretty annoying to have my both my families LGs flagship phones which I haven't even finished paying for just basically brick themselves and I am unsure if I will buy LG again.

If you like the features of the LG phones, check out the forums for their new ones. I had one G4 bootloop and the replacement started acting strange (but didn't actually bootloop), so I cut my losses and upgraded to the V20. That phone has been rock solid. Sure, there have been some reports of a bootloop here and there and other issues, but nothing widespread or out of the ordinary for a mass produced phone.

I know the lawyer overseeing the G4 and V10 class action case is looking in to including G5, V20, and maybe even the G6, but I personally think he's just looking to line his pockets with a bigger payout as there simply are no wide spread issues that I'm aware of with them.

I sent my boot looping out of nowhere G4 to LG on 4/21 and am due to receive it back on 5/5. The work order email stated "no power with cable; Swap Board (Main/RF)". Hopefully this is a real hardware fix and the issue won't reappear in another 8 months.

Been stuck with the crappiest Alcatel loaner phone from T-Mobile in the meantime (they even made me pay a refundable $50 to use this service). 1.5GB bargain phone from 2013 and a total nightmare to have to depend on. T-Mobile and LG have both handled this absolutely terribly.
@jhonnybroccoli - did this fix your boot loop issue by chance??? I've got the same msg on my repair ntoes from my warranty repair. It's on its way back now to me.

Had mine since July 2015 and it JUST bootlooped . There was a software update a few days ago...think that had something to do with it?

Some owners commenting in the link I provided seem to think similarly, that the update might be the culprit.

Okay, bootloop after over two years of use. Managed to get it to reboot after applying pressure while booting, but the effect short-lived. I believe that the best procedure would be to remove and resolder the RAM chip sitting atop the 808, but since I have not the smallest hope of carrying out such a specialist procedure, I'll try the old hair-drier method, then put something between the chip and the shield to apply a bit of pressure. I am quite confident of a bad result.

If perchance it works, I'll let you know for how long. Get ready to laugh.

Later: Hair-drier no go, so I applied a lighter flame to the chip for twenty seconds or so. Successful boot. At least now I can be sure the battery is charging, which I wasn't before.

    Few minutes later: fail.

A few days later: Full boot after a longer application of a lighter flame, for perhaps a minute.

Couple of days later: Fail, when granting an app a location request, though whether relevant, I don't know.

Exact same boat...bought it in July 2015 too, never had a problem until after the update and suspected that update was the culprit, but no proof. Sent it back to LG (used my own UPS 2 Day shipping since the free FedEX said it would take 10 days!). They got it Thursday, and it's on it's way back after one day of turn-around, fixed free since they know the G4 is a Lemon.

Got mine in Nov 2015, mine bootlooped back on June 19. LG is replacing - first they said "new" phone, now they're saying refurbished. Three weeks total to get - must come via slow boat from Korea? Only took 3 days to get to facility in Texas. I don't remember seeing anything about an update, but really sucks. Given the "quality" of LG's customer service, I seriously doubt I'll buy another LG product any time soon.

Man this thread just keeps going.

I've said this before and I'll continue to say it. The G5/V20 run wasn't plagued with the massive boot loop issue that made the G4/V10 run a dumpster fire. I understand that the issue has changed hearts and minds regarding LG. I know there's a lawsuit that includes the G5/V20, but I will continue point this out. I feel it's only fare. To each their own. Cheers.

The only lawsuit I'm aware of is the G4/V10 class action suit. I know that lawyer was seeking input from V20 users that bootlooped, but it sounded like just an attempt at a money grab via the courts and never heard if the V20 was added to the suit.

I agree. All four of the LG-made phones I've used have been high-quality, trouble-free devices over long periods of service, with the exception of the G4 when it bootlooped. But stuff happens. It definitely has not deterred me from LG devices in the future.

The three weeks to get your phone back is mostly the cheap FedEX Ground service they use. Fixing the phone was one day turnaround, and they fixed mine rather than send a "new" refurb back. I gotta believe the amount of bad press LG got over the G4 that they won't let it happen on future phones. But everything has it's problems, including Samsung or Apple.

Arbitration is the new trend in big business now. Companies in many aspects of our life are making us sign onto a forced arbitration clause in TOS to buy their product or service, and it's very disturbing. But since government is basically owned by lobbyists, it's going to stay that way, or get possibly worse with Trump and the Rs cutting regulations and consumer protections.

My wife's just got bricked. My wife contacted LG Canada online chat. They claim they fix phones with the boot problem, that have been manufactured within the last 24 month. Even though my wife only owned the phone for 21 months and still have 3 months left in her 2 year contract, LG would not repair for free because it was manufactured more than 24 months. The phone is probably among the first batch when it was released in June 2015.

When I was informed of this, I was furious and call the 1-888 number and made the following statements
-the issue is well known and admitted by LG
-no manufacture offers warranty and repair services based on the date of manufacture. It is always based on the date of purchase
-we signed a standard two year contract and "your phone does not even last 24 months!!!"
-LG knew this problem and did not do a thing for customers who already bought G4.

They quickly checked with their manager and offered me free shipping and free repair.
They are repairing this for free out-of-warranty. But at the same time, it is a lemon, and LG should have recalled all G4 to begin with.

Good for you. Now, don't forget to thank LG since you were "technically" outside the 2 year window that had been announced. Hope the phone is good as new when it comes back.
