I registered just to let you know I'm having the same EXACT problem. Phone will just no matter what I do not connect to my computer after update to 6.0. I have a Sony Xperia Z5 dual. I have enabled USB debugging, enabled OEM unlock, selected MTP under USB Configuration. MTP was already selected, but I cycled through it and selected it again. When I did this, it changed to Charge Only and I could not change it back. I cycled through all the options several times trying to choose other ones. After trying this several times, MTP finally got selected. Not sure if this is a bug with Android 6.0 or what. I have tried with 4 different cables (these all worked before the update on this same computer). I have tried plugging them in with the phone unlocked, with the phone locked, restarting the phone and the computer. Nothing works. The computer is a laptop running Windows 8.1. As I said, it worked just fine with this laptop previous to the update. When I connect the cable, I hear a sound from the phone, but no notifications appear saying anything about being connected to a computer.
I connected the phone to my work PC running Windows 7 and everything worked just fine after installing drivers for USB Composite Device and Xperia Z5 Dual. This happened automatically when I plugged it in. I did get a message saying it couldn't find a driver for the ADB Interface, but I don't even know what that is and everything works fine like before. But on this PC, it's set to automatically search and download relevant drivers. So that could be the issue. Otherwise, there's some sort of incompatibility problem with Windows 8.1. I will try my home PC running Windows 7 that also has automatic updates turned off and see. I hope some of this information helps you.
