I recently got a g4 under insurance after my xperia z3 broke. (carrier could not find another z3). And ive noticed that my battery does not last near as long as on my previous phone.

In terms of usage, i typically stream a few youtube videos in the morning. And then use my phone rarely throughout the day. At coffee breaks i will check the weather and news etc. This might be 5-10 minutes. By lunch time, im lucky to have 30% battery, with it averaging more like 20-25%. I should note. This is starting off with 100% as i charge my phone every night.

Is this normal for you g4 owners out there? Is there a way i can disable background processes while my phone is not on (screen turned off)? Just wondering, because not being able to make it through the day with a phone is both annoying and somewhat unsafe should i need to contact someone, or should someone need to contact me.

I typically go all day on mine. I get about 15-16 hours and 4-1/2 to 5 hours screen on time. Is your signal strength good on your phone as that can have a dramatic effect on battery

When I had the G4, I'd typically get 4.5-5 hours SOT. I never failed to make it through a full day. Maybe if you are traveling, you would want a spare battery or a battery pack, but otherwise you should be fine. Try disabling blue tooth and GPS when you aren't using them. If you like to keep location on, put it on battery saving when possible.

There are always different things you can do to try and lengthen your battery life. Of course, every phone is different, but try the following:

    - disable location when possible

    - turn off Wi-Fi/data when you know your phone won't be in use (ie, if you're already on your computer at work, checking emails, for example; or when sleeping)

    - be mindful of social media apps: apps like Facebook and Facebook Messenger, that are running in the background, can take a toll on your battery

    - if you're in a low-signal area, your phone may exert a lot more energy trying to search for a signal, and that may cause a battery drain (that happened to me when I had my phone in my pocket at work one evening)

    - if all else fails, run a battery report to see what apps, processes, etc are using up the most of your battery. Running a diagnostic like this once every few days will capture your routine in and out of the office; which would be helpful in figuring out any cause of battery drainage

Cool thanks for the tips guys. Im starting to miss my z3 more and more. The speakers, buttons, software, and battery all seemed to be better. Though this phone has a much better camera and slightly better specs.

I've always loved Sony phones... I understand what you're saying. Hopefully things improve for you with your battery! Glad to hear you are liking your camera!!

There is no typical battery life as we all have different apps installed, usage pattern, firmware, etc
