Playing videos from gallery issue

[AC Question]

Hey! Im using a LG G5 which hasn't been giving me any problems until now(its my 2nd one after my first one turned into a brick after 3 months). But whenever I try to play a video from my gallery when I press the play button itll send me to the first item in my gallery even if its just another picture. Help!

Welcome to Android Central! So you're saying that tapping on any video won't play that video, but instead will show you the first image or video from the Gallery? Try going to Settings>Apps​, select Gallery, and Clear Cache/Clear Data. Now open it again and wait a few seconds for the database to rebuild. Does the same thing happen now?

I found this and it corresponds to my problem.
Cache clearing did not resolve the issue.
Would really appreciate further assistance.

Welcome to Android Central! Maybe a default video player was set at some point that isn't working right. Try going to Settings>Apps, tap Menu>Reset All App Preferences, and then try again.
