I dropped my LG G5 in water a few days ago. Everything is fine, save for the volume buttons no longer functioning and an ongoing problem with the g-sensor. I was first alerted to the issue when my camera kept randomly opening when my phone was locked. I inferred that my phone was thinking that I was twisting it twice to open the camera (a feature that I never liked in the first place). I tried calibrating the sensor, but on a flat surface it just shows constant drift toward the bottom left corner. So, I have to assume that the g-sensor is broken. Which wouldn't be a problem because I hardly use its features. However, the camera launching at random intervals during the day (even when my phone is still in my pocket or laying flat on the table untouched) which is killing my battery. And as you may know, the G5 has a rather terrible battery in the first place, which exacerbates the situation.

I don't care if I recover the g-sensor and I am perfectly okay with physically removing it or simply disabling the sensor. After several hours of research, I still don't have a straight answer on how to do either.

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

There may be impact damage and water damage, the latter of which tends to be progressive. See the article below. Any repairs or fixes may be unworthwhile. However I’ll move the thread to the LG G5 forum.
