I posted the same message on Pixel forum as well. Most do the reponses are for pixel.

I've an opportunity to buy a week old G6 or a month old 32gb Pixel XL..Difference in price is only about CAD$50. Both are in mint condition. Which one should i go for? While i like the size of lg g6, pixel does get the latest updates faster. But XL sixe is a bit too big.

Main aspects for me - camera, OS Updates and size.

It's all going to come down to your personal preference. The lack of expandable memory is a deal breaker for me with respect to the Pixel

For updates, Pixel wins, for camera, G6 has a slight advantage. For size, G6 hands down. So 2 out of 3 for the G6.

Yeah, you're going to get more Pixel XL votes at the Pixel forum and more G6 votes at the G6 forum :-) So I'll continue the homer trend and say go with the G6 primarily for: bigger screen, smaller size/weight, IP68, wide angle lens, and microSD expansion. That said, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Yes and no, it all depends on the low setting, maybe a future update will fix that. But I would still take the G6 over the Pixel. While there is nothing wrong with the Pixel, I am,just loving the G6 and can't stop playing with it. The AOD is nice and adding a signature is always a nice touch. Knock, knock feature is one of my favorites since, the G2, awesome camera and the wide angle feature adds that extra wow factor. And lastly, the expendable memory, I'm rocking 128 mb card. Basically you can't go wrong with either phone I r recommend you play with both phones and choose the one that suits your needs. Personally, for me its the G6 over the Pixel, especially now Google Assist is available for anyone running 7.0.

I would 100% go for Nexus/pixel if I didn't have to use AT&Ts wifi calling so much. I work in buildings with 0.0 cell signal and that wifi calling/sms is huge for me.

having owned a pixel, the build quality is far from premium. Don't be surprised after six months that you have permanent smudges or discoloration. You also have a lens flare issue with the camera that was only partially fixed through software changes. You'll get two years of OS updates but after that, no promises. The user experience is the same between both phones, both are solid and reliably fast. The pixel is a good phone but the G6 is the future if only for the display.

A few weeks ago I was on the fence between getting a Pixel 128GB and waiting to see what the Pixel 2 offered. I know SD card isn't happening, but I was hoping for a 64GB option (perfect size for my needs) and wireless charging, and whatever else is new for the P2. But then the $288 Best Buy G6 deal came along out of nowhere and it became a no-brainer to get the G6.

So for me it was the great price that made the G6 an easy choice. I do like the phone, but for only a $50 difference it's not as easy a choice, especially at only 32GB with no SD Card. 32 on the G6 is fine with another 32 SD for media storage. Good luck deciding, I'm sure you'll enjoy either one though!

I was in the same boat, after 3 G4's bootlooped in my family I couldn't bring myself to get the G6 and went with the Pixel.

Given the choice, I'd take the Pixel. My wife has a G6 and it's a really good phone... Best phones they've made ever in my opinion... At least anything with a G. But soup to nuts, the Pixel is better in my opinion.

Oh, and the Pixel has a better camera. I say this will certainly as my 6P takes slightly better photos than her G6. There's just too much processing going on, and in lower light, things start to look pretty overworked. The one advantage the G6 has is the wide angle, which is by no means insignificant, but out ends there. With the CameraNX app (zero shutter lag HDR+), my 6P is faster (LG phones always seem to have times where it gets sluggish), more consistent and in terms of quality in all lighting conditions, I'd grab my Nexus before the LG.

That being said, the G6 is the only phone on the market right now that has my eye other than the Pixel course. But I'm waiting for the Pixel 2 this fall, so I'm resisting the urge.

I have both. I just got my G6 today. The Pixel is a great phone, and there are some things I'm going to miss about it. But my phone before that was an LG G5 and I just really missed the manual camera controls and wide-angle camera. If you're not comfortable with manual settings on a camera then the Pixel is probably the safer bet in low-light.
