I have Bluetooth connected to my fitness tracker also.

Interesting. I lose 5-10 through the night on wifi usually... On LTE it stays 100.. but this change definitely added some more bang for my buck.. what carrier?
Three UK, my signal is pretty weak where I am right now though. Infact as I type it is 1 bar.

I have also noticed if I charge to 100% it will stick there for a good while before it drops to 99, even if I'm using the phone. I'm quite confident that if I charge to 100 and leave over night, it will still be on 100 in the morning. The battery percentage gauge doesn't seem to be completely linear.

Great stuff. I see that you are using Lux. When I was using it a while back, I was getting massive wakelocks. Have you noticed it having any impact on your battery. Either good or bad. Hopefully my G6 arrives today, then I will be able to try out a few things I've read in these threads.
Overnight without Lux I didn't lose any percentage.

Lux has very little impact on battery in my experience. Fantastic app, certainly better then the stock auto brightness.

I'm at 4 percent.. 20 hours up time, 6hr and 15 minutes of screen... I threw lux back on halfway through the day cause it looked like there was no difference in daily use.. I've accomplished this much screen time before but that's without Facebook and Twitter on the phone and with GPS off.. tomorrow I'll try it out with NFC on to see how it fairs.

Standby for me has been great with WiFi on all the time. I think the main thing to remember is to turn off Wi-Fi when you leave the house/work, when there are no networks available. The constant searching for networks is what has a toll on the battery.

Last night I lost 4% from 80% - 76%, between 22:30 - 07:00. Which works out to be around 0.47% an hour, I'm happy with that.

As you can see from the screenshots I only had just over an hour of screen on time, which was all before I went to bed and was at 80%. For me though, standby is probably more important than screen on with the way I use the phone.

Tonight I will try it from 100%. As I said before it seems to stick on 100% a lot longer then any other percentage, something I've noticed the iPhone also does.

Okay I tested my S8+ (only phone I have at the moment) last night w/ the WiFi thing. I have a VPN on when at home on WiFi .. but left wifi set to "always" for staying on during sleep and I lost 4% over 6 and a half hours.

I will test tonight with LTE only and see how much it drains overnight.

So that works out at around 0.61%/hour. Will be interested to see what you get over cellular, I'm calling a bigger drain. I'm yet to try mine with wifi off yet.

Its still chugging along nicely with 29hrs off charger and 59% remaining.

Do you guys think I should shut the WiFi radio completely off and just leave it on LTE from 100% till I wake up .. OR do you want me to turn WiFi on but just turn the "Keep wifi on during sleep" option to "Never" ?

I think both should achieve the same thing, but I think most would normally leave it on with the during sleep option set to never.

I think a better test would be not from 100% though, as I've noticed my phone sticks to 100% for a lot longer then any other percentage. Example, I can take it off of charge at 100% and get around 30mins screen on time before it decides to drop to 99%, but 99%-98% would get me nowhere near that.

Just something to think about, the Samsung may behave differently though.

Rgr. I will do that.

Very possible. Especially since mine is a carrier variant. I have just always kept the sleep option to "Always" on all phones (even my G6 when I had it) so curious to see how it works out when it shuts off.

Tonight I will test over LTE/Cellular, so hopefully I should have an answer. Then tomorrow night I will test from 100% to see if it sticks there for prolonged amount of time.

How do you find the S8 compared to the G6 in terms of battery life?

So last night I tested with WiFi off. From 21:30 - 07:00 (9.5hrs) I lost 5%, which works out as 0.52%/hr. That is only very slightly more then with WiFi on which was 0.47%/hr. So the difference is negligible, but it seems wifi is slightly more efficient.

What has impressed me though is that I'm still on the same charge as when I stated the test, almost 46hrs on battery and still around 40% left. Low screen on time of around 2hrs, but at 40% I think I could get a couple more hours. To me that is excellent.

Tonight's test will be with WiFi on and charged to 100%, I'm interested to see if it will sit at 100 all night.

I tried with WiFi on when I went to bed but had the "Keep it active while sleep" set to "Never" and WOW .. Drain city lol.

I went from 100% -> 86% overnight. WiFi staying on definitely makes a huge difference since I had a 4% drain overnight versus a 14% drain lol :p.

Interesting.

I must say when I owned my Galaxy S6, I too experienced exactly what you just described. With the G6 though it doesn't seem to make much difference, as I said last night "keep it active while sleeping" set to never, I only lost 5%. Must be a Samsung thing?...

It could be -- but also could be I don't get the best signal. I get around 100-110 dBm at home. It isn't super weak but not strong either (around 30+ Mbps if I do a speed test) so I believe the phone may be using a bit more power to ensure it has the signal.

I forgot to mention mine hovered around 1-2bars last night, I couldn't tell you what that relates to in dBm though.

Either way in my opinion you can't really go wrong leaving wifi set to stay on. Just remember to turn it off when there are no usable networks available as it will use power searching for hotspots.
