My wife got a new car tonight with Android auto and when I went to download the app to my phone it said my device is not compatible. Really?! Can't imagine that that's actually possible in this day and age. Can someone please clarify?

Might be the car. When I got my last phone I had just bought my wife a new car and the phone didn't connect until the car's head unit was updated. Unfortunately, the auto industry is still in the stone age when it comes to stuff like this, often requiring a trip to the dealer for software and firmware updates on anything related to the gps, stereo, etc.

Wherever the fault lies, I hope you get it worked out soon.

just bought a new Prius Prime 2018, and amazed it neither has Android Auto nor Apple Car Play; although, it does have it's own nav system........and 11" display. bummer, cause it doesn't work as well as the above interfaces.

it wasn't the car. for some reason the Play Store said my phone wasn't compatible so I downloaded an apk from the Web and it works.
