Ok, first off, as my first Android phone I am super happy with most of it.. I won the phone from LG so i cant complain lol. The first question...
Its a US Cellular phone, and I had the worst time getting it on Verizon. It would not register using the NFC SIM they sent (2 weeks of so many calls) - I went in the store, and the guy just swapped the SIM from my iphone and bam it works. lol.. now I know the sim is not NFC so does anyone know what wont work? does it have to have an NFC sim for NFC to work?

    Next question is the DoNotDisturb...
I have it set to let messages through for people that are favorites.. Will this still work if I use Textra and not the Android msg app? I ask, because I had certain sounds set to certain people and it didnt use them, i had to set in Textra. But i dont see a DND Override in textra

    Next:
SMS.. my wife still has iOS.. on my end, i found and set so i can see "Sent" and "Delivered" can she set her phone to see that it has been delivered?

    ...one more for now lol
    COntacts:
In contacts it has an LED color setting, yet It doesnt seem to work? what is that for?

    Thanks!!

    Hi there!

SIM cards and NFC have nothing to do with each other. NFC is something your phone (if supported) already has, kinda like Bluetooth, and is meant to do short data transfer bursts within close proximity of an NFC terminal or transmitter. Not sure why the SIM card you got from LG wouldn't work, but maybe the SIM card was just a bad one or it isn't registered properly with the network you want to use.

Yup, DND should work with any messaging app you set as your default. Any custom sounds you set up in the stock Contacts/Messaging app, however, will not apply to 3rd party apps like Textra, which is why you had to re-set them up there (and vice-versa, anything you set there will not apply to stock apps or other 3rd party ones).

Yeah, but that's sort of ancient tech and not all carriers are still supporting delivery reports (that's basically an extra text the recipient device sends back). If you're, however, referring to the new sent/read/writing status, then nope, iPhones, to the best of my knowledge, still don't support Enhanced Messaging (RCS), which is what allows those 'chat-like' features to work. Those, of course, will only work with devices/carriers that support it, even if you have it enabled.

Not entirely sure as I don't have an LG, but it sounds like it should be an option for texting WITH stock apps. So again, if you're using Textra, those wouldn't apply. Or it might be calls, but it's more likely to be texting (or both).

Thanks! yeah the SIM that Verizon sent (actually they sent 2) .. wouldnt work lol but the Verizon sim I had in my iPhone worked fine. lol No clue why.. good to know that NFC will work still.

Yeah i asked in iMore about the texting.. stupid apple.

    Thanks again!!

You know.. my favorite feature so far is live wallpapers lol. To be able to look at my lockscreen and see something cool and not just a stupid picture is seriously fun. And I love how you can just add things! like a 3rd party txt app or notification apps etc. Its nice to be able to make the phone "mine"

That's part of the appeal and partly the 'curse' of Android. It's so customizable and you have so many 3rd party options to enhance your experience of something as basic as texting, but you also might be burdened with way too many options and not-necessarily-optimized apps around. But, at least to me, the pros outweigh the cons.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your new phone, and if you're ever in a pinch or would like to know how to make the best of using your device, just ask away!

the only real downfall I have found is the "Settings".. they are all over the place and not well organized - i find myself having to search .. or you get to one and it has a more settings, that goes to another, which has an option that brings you back to the first (not the back button..) lol so you can go in a loop. Is there a good guide on getting the most of android?

Unfortunately, there's not a universal guide, because most Android phone makers put their own touches on the OS, so settings layout can vary a LOT between devices.
