New member, long time LG owner, having sound problem

Hi all, having a sound issue on my lg g7 thinQ. I've always only had lg phones but never had this problem before, I did some searching but haven't found a fix.

The phone will randomly stop playing all sounds, sometimes in the middle of a video on FB. If restarted the phone will not play the startup ringtone. Sound will return randomly, I have gone to sleep with no sounds(no alarm), and woken up to the alarm going off. The vibration still works.

Welcome to Android Central! When the sounds goes out, are you able to hear it using wired or Bluetooth headphones?

Yes, if I plug in some headphones the sound works normally thru the headphones.

When the sound goes out, do you see a headphone icon appear in the status bar? If so, the headphone jack might be faulty and intermittently thinking that it has headphones plugged in. Otherwise, I'd suspect a hardware issue with the speaker or its connection.

No the headphone icon only comes on when I plug the headphones in.

Sound was working this morning, so I put it in safe mode and set the alarm and that worked fine, but about 3 mins into youtube videos the sound stopped working.

Restart and out of safe mode sound still not working. Open FB and random advert video comes up and sound is working, cuts out again 5 seconds later.

Since it happens in Safe Mode, I'd lean towards a problem with the hardware. The phone should still be under warranty, so I'd contact LG.
