    Hi all,

    I have a LG G7 for about 6 months.

I have a pending issue which i cannot seem to solve it permanently.
I just update my phone to Android 9.0 but this happen even before android 9.0.

After using phone for awhile (especially during heavy usage) , my widget will freeze and stop updating. My notification panel also will freeze and stop updating.

The only way i can solve temporary is a few ways.
Either i clear all cache, force stop the "home app" in the app list or restart the phone. But this only is temporary.

Currently i have 303 apps on my phone and i have alot of notification coming in and a few pages of widget.

Not sure why this happen often but i suspect could be RAM overload or lack of memory.

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this happen with a specific widget, or with any widget? If it's for a specific widget, then that widget's app might be glitchy. Try clearing the app's cache in Settings>Apps (and its data as well, as long as there isn't any important data you need to keep for that app).

It happen with any widget. All widget won't update and work.
But if i clear all app cache and all background processes, all the widget will work again. I cannot figure out why...
Restart the phone will temporary fix it.

This kind of issue can be tough to narrow down. It could be due to some app you installed that's causing instability at some point. You could try booting into Safe Mode to see if it still happens then, but the problem is that Safe Mode will disable all of your 3rd party apps (not just one), and so any 3rd party widget will also not work in Safe Mode. And if the problem usually takes a while to show up, it can be hard to say how long you have to test the phone in Safe Mode to determine if the problem went away.

If the problem does go away in Safe Mode, then you'd have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away and stays away. This is obviously very tedious, so it would help if you had some suspicion of an app to begin with. Do you recall if this started happening after installing a particular app?

I have reboot in Safe Mode and clear all cache.

I restart after that and found out an app is not fully working. It is the GSam battery monitor app. The widget of this app appear not to be working and the app could not be found in the app drawer. I have to go to setting to find the app. I also have to go to google playstore to open this app.

I have since uninstall this app. I shall monitor and see if the problem still happen.

I realised that system cache is not available for us to clear. Is there any way to do that? Does it help?

Are you saying that the GSam widget didn't work in Safe Mode? This is expected, since GSam is a 3rd party app, and Safe Mode temporarily disables all 3rd party apps that you installed.

Since the G7 supports seamless updates (and therefore has dual A/B partitions), it doesn't have a system cache partition to clear.

GSam did not work after i recover from Safe Mode. Not sure why.

What is this dual A/B partitions? Not aware of how this works.

    Thank you.

As of now after uninstalling the GSam Battery Monitor app, my widget and notification are working since.

Actually.. The problem comes back again.
Try to isolate some app and found LG Health app might be the problem.

Have since disabled it as it could not be install.
