I'm somewhat pleasantly surprised how good ATT has been with the G8. Getting them almost every month to every 2 montha and about lagging about 2 from current Google. On June right now.

I'm on t-mobile and was going pretty fine until March or so. About 1 year from launch. Then it seems like I only get quarterly updates now. Seems kinda odd for that to be the case in the second year after launch. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I purchased an unlocked G8 from Best Buy and activated it on my Verizon account this past June. I haven't seen any updates at all. Is that because the phone is unlocked or because Verizon hasn't released any security updates?

My guess is that it is because it is unlocked. Operating on a network does not mean Big Red is paying attention to your phone. Verizon branded phones have those specific IMEI number, and those receive the updates that LG submit to the carrier, who have to approve them before they go to the devices. My best thought is unlocked phones need to receive their updates directly from LG. There is a place to check for updates in your settings. Maybe see if you are up to date there?

LG promised they would do better at supporting their devices. AT&T accepted criticisms about failing to get timely updates out. Looks like they are both trying to be good to their words. I am pleased.

Makes sense, but I have used the phones independent update center to check. So far I get the "You are running the most current software" message. Thanks.
