Can't get LG Optimus G Pro into Recovery Boot

I have been trying to root my LG Optimus G Pro for a while now. I did find the latest CMOS, but I can't get my phone to boot into recovery mode. With the phone off I have tried the Volume up and Power sequence with no luck.

1. Can this phone be rooted to update to KitKat?
a. Phone software version is E98010p
b. Is KitKat worth it over 4.1.2?

2. How can I get the device into recovery or alternative boot modes?

Yes it can be rooted. I have been having trouble booting into recovery to flash cwm11 kitkat 4.4. It seems none of the apps that are supposed to reboot it to recovery work. Once it starts reboot you have to press the home key to get it to go to recovery.

Alternatively you can use freegee app to boot into recovery.

Yes it can be rooted. I have also installed several Kitkat and JB 4.3 ROMs. Just google around or look in the XDA forums for exact steps to boot into recovery. It is a fairly simple process. As someone else suggested you can also use freegee to boot into recovery.
