A factory restore will not take it back to the original build. Your on the newest build which breaks this method of rooting. We're on our own until one of these awesome people figure out how to do it now....One click root would be awesome, lol...........BTW, someone try Gingerbreak or Gingersnap, whatever it was...it worked great on the optimus s...hahahaha

You need to root while on ZV7 or ZV8. There is a script named around for going back.

Once rooted, you can use Voodoo OTA Root Keeper to backup root and then restore it after the OTA update.

The last three characters of the software version. So far, there have been ZV7, ZV8 and ZV9. ZV9 closed the method that had been used on the prior two versions for rooting.

sorry to ask jhasty, but what do you mean "while on zv7or zv8?

After the ZVB update, Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper was able to restore root for me. SuperSU updated itself afterwards. Don't have to go through all the trouble getting root again.

CRAP! I did the update and then the Voodoo Rootkeeper, then when I started SU, it said it needed to boot to TWRP and when it restarted... My phone is broken :( Just a dead little droid icon with a red triangle over it.

WAIT! I just let the little dead droid sit for a minute, and my phone restated again and seems to be ok. Maybe it was my fingers being crossed that fixed it?
