What is CWMT?

Is it okay if i flashed like this

Wipe data
wipe cache
wipe dalvik

Install 1.3 gingerrom
install powermod5
install no button wake up mod
install battery in right corner mod
install hydro kernel

reboot
Is this fine?

DId i miss anything? Also do i need to install the script update that was posted yesterday for increasing performance? Can i Use winrar and put all the gingerrom files together so its all in one file. Like put powermod5, no button wake up mod, battery in right corner, and script update all in the 1.3 gingerrom file?

Clockwork Mod Touch is a custom recovery that Drew ported and adapted to the Optimus S. It is based on a newer version of CWM than the champion, Xionia Recovery, but only works with certain ROMs.

See here and here.

What the poster you referenced is saying is that he is pushing everything on his device to the cutting edge, just for the thrill of it. :)

Yep you can put all those respective files in place right inside the rom.zip ....... except the kernel. Going to have to flash that separately. Its imbedded in the boot.img which takes a little more than swapping out rom files to incorporate that.

No need to wipe anything and I'm not sure if I would call it a NEEDED mod. I'm just playing around with different script options here. If you guys notice any improvements then cool if not it seems no harm is done. I say make a backup of your setup now and give it a shot, why not right? :p

Backup by booting into recovery. Scroll down to "Backup and Restore" and choose backup. I figure you can figure out how to restore.

Battery saving apps like Juice Defender IMO are less then worthless, actually use more then they save. Better off to use something like No Frills Cpu Control to over/underclock the phone with a decent governor aka interactivex or smartass2 or the like. I use 786max/320min interactivex. Also a great battery saver is using Wifi as MUCH as possible and set it to never sleep.

A recovery backup is what I was talking about. Reboot to recovery and choose backup. Its self explanatory from there. That will make a complete image of your current system and everything so you can revert back if you screw something up or don't like a mod that you applied.

Now, if this is something you did not know about, then I suggest you go make one right ASAP! With all this flashing your doing, you would hate to break something and have to wipe the slate clean.

Oh, and no I do not use any juice defender type apps or task killers of any kind. We try to tweak the system and kernel to help in those areas. Most of the time those type apps are used improperly and cause negative effects. Notice they leave that out of the apps description though don't they.

So am i screwed if i ever have to go back to stock since i didnt backup before i started flashing?

IS AVG anti virus okay to have or get rid of that too?

Do you guys ever benchtest your phones? I cant seem to break the 800 points barrier anymore, I got up to 1004 once but now i cant anymore.

+1 to what hlxanthus said. Turn off GPS & Bluetooth when not using and don't run your display at full brightness unless you need it. The biggest killer to any battery is a phone searching for any signal that is not available, whether it be 3G, bluetooth, or other.

Also avoid any apps of the task killer variety. Most of them are more problematic than they are worth and some are arguably malware. Some add a layer of convenience, but most of it is just playing to a WIndows userbase that never figured out how to use add/remove programs or msconfig, thus developing a lengthy post-bootup ritual of killing unwanted software.

ALWAYS do a nandroid backup before flashing a mod or ROM, installing a root app, or removing stock software. Please and thank you from future you. :D

Just noticed that late last night actually, its a small bug in the powermod. But to give credit to hlxanthus, with all that coding its common to bust something else. A fix will be worked on. Workaround for now is to pull the battery or just grab quickboot from the market for the time being.
