4.4? It's supposed to be capable of running on phones with 512MB of ram, so I think it would run pretty good.

Re: 4.4 KitKat?

Yes that part is true. Fact still remains if the device its running on meets the processors and other requirements set forth.

Re: 4.4 KitKat?

My understanding is that KitKat will run on devices with low memory, but with some modified or stripped down features (I can't find it now, but I saw a screenshot of a notification pulldown on a low-memory phone that still had notifications....just not as robust as one with more memory would have).

I'll be curious how streamlined it is on devices with more memory and carrier bloatware and manufacturer skins, etc.

By the sounds of it, it should run pretty good on the ov/os. I mean jb isn't supposed to work at all but it runs pretty decent. In the JBC thread kitkat was also mentioned and I think I remember someone said something about kitkat even supporting armv6

Hmm. This would be pretty nice if it could happen. Of course...wouldn't it still be a memory hog of sorts? Both Jellybeans that we got (via ROMs, of course) - 4.1 & 4.2 - chomp up memory like candy...and I don't think we even got 4.3 on the OS/OV.

cm11
not that cyanogen supports armv6 anymore, but most of the thunderc device folders out there are for cm and aosp don't usually care much for em.

But seeing as how KitKat really CAN support older devices...hmmm...maybe someone will either do a port of CM11 or something. We can only wait and see...yes.

It's my understanding he no longer has an os and won't be doing further Dev work here. After all.. It'd be hard to be very motivated to Dev for a device you don't own. Bigsupersquid mentioned in the JBC thread he might take a stab at it. I might also give it a shot but in all likelihood I won't get it done as I'm not very good with modifying source code.

If my landline internet ever gets connected .
four days of overnight tethering just to get 58% sync is getting old.

Re: 4.4 KitKat?

Well... I'm off to a crawling start lol, I've got a good sync of the cm-11 repo last night. No guarantee I'll be able to get anywhere with it but I'm giving it a shot. Tonight I'm going to pull in the device and vendor files from thekraven's git and see if it'll build.

Re: 4.4 KitKat?

I wish you both the best of luck. I'm not good at all with coding, but it sounds to me like this project shouldn't be too hard. You know with the whole "hey guys I think it actually supports armv6!" talk going around.

Re: 4.4 KitKat?

well first attempt was a fail but i think its just because i was using cyanogenmod source directly got past a few blocks but then got stuck. i'm now syncing with androidarmv6 github repo and will see where that gets me

update: sync finished. proceded to try to get my device and vendor files setup correctly and now i'm able to begin compiling cm11 but it stops maybe 5 min into it.
i definetly got excited when i seen this

Re: 4.4 KitKat?

Managed to work through several compiling problems and now its been going for some time without error... I'm going crazy sitting here watching the code go by on my computer screen. I didn't actually think I'd get this far.

update:eek:k new stopper to work on... went at least an hour that time though

update2:got past it and is compiling again
