Ok, So I am already rooted, is there is a simple solution to unrooting?

I used LG Mobile Updater Tool. Then rooted via windows command.
If you're running Rooted Stock VC, just re-root using the Control Center's Root Utility. You will then be able to unroot.

Fair enough. But my answer to B still stands. Custom ROM flashing is definitely on the roadmap.
Great, will help make the process even more painless.

And I just figured out how to successfully flash kernels WITHOUT much user interaction with the recovery kernel.

Anyone know where I can find a stock VC kernel boot.img and required libs (if any)?

EDIT: Derp. Just answered my own question by opening the ThundeROM 1.7 zip.

    1) I rooted my phone through the Lg Optimus S Control Center thanks to drew walton , and i want to get a custom recovery. There is a drellisdee's custom recovery but i dont know if that is the original custom recovery...
    2) I dont know how to flash roms... it says make a nadroid backup but i dont know how to do that... I want to flash ThundeRom 1.7 but were it says make a nadroid backup i get lost. then it says to flash rom but i dont see an option that says "flash rom" or anything...
    3) i apparently installed xionia xlockwork recovery kernel but when i go to the recovery thing, its just the one that came with the phone... nothing changed but it said it did...
    Help would be appreciated

Ok, I think I've got it.

    To clarify, I should:

Use the LG Software Update tool to move from V9 to VC.
After that, use AAT to reroot and prepare for custom rom installation.

    Yes? Maybe?

Your going to need to consider a few things. I spent a good portion of my night last night about to rip my hair out over this issue of what do you do once you update OTA VC. So here is what i have found:

If you have a reconditioned device with OTA VC...give up now. Your MEID is probably not registered with LG to update to VC through the LG updater. See this post for supporting evidence.

Check your device with this url to see if it is registered with LG for update through desktop: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b...A000002XXXXXXX Insert your ESN at the end.

The response should look like this:
    OK A000002XXXXXXX LGLS670 ASPRCQ 101KXXXXXXXXXX 20110120 LS670ZVC_11 http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata..._11.P60674.cab http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata..._11.P60674.cab GLOBAL/GLOBAL N N EG CDMA

If you confirmed you do have a new device, downgrade to V9 using this method

After you are back to V9 the LG desktop should allow you to update to VC since the handset is not reconditioned.

Then Control Center should be able to do what it does best. Let us know how it goes, if you have an new device. If yours is reconditioned, be patient and wait for one of these genius' to figure it out how to root OTA VC.

I don't think you should necessarily give up.

You should be able to Force Flash VC using the cab file. This process shouldn't depend on the LG website URL.

Instructions to Force Flash VC are in the *reference section* of the post in my signature.

Since you have a couple of refurb phones handy, perhaps you can try it out and see it works for you. Others have tried it and it works. Cordell had an issue, but he was using a slightly different procedure which flashed in Emergency mode.

Good point. It shouldn't matter. I will trying this to see what a handful of devices do using this method. (recon and new)

Did you attempt to flash xionia clockwork recovery while in recovery mode? Cause that won't work at all.

No, look what I did is that I unlocked it like it said, pressed allow really quick when it appeared, and it went into android recovery. I pressed reboot and let my phone load. In about 5 minutes later I wanted to flash thunderom but when I went into recovery, it was android recovery and not xionia clockwork. What did I do wrong since I followed the instructions step-by-step on screen?

EDIT: wait sorry, I just read the lg optimus control center post and I noticed it said "install kernels" and stuff. Does that mean that the custom recovery is installed in my phone but I haven't put/flashed it there yet? If so how do I do that?

For an out of the box refurb with V9, you can just Force Flash VC using the instructions in the reference section.

The following is just for the refurb unit that you had installed OTA VC on.

If you installed the OTA VC, there is no way to root that yet, so you need to Force Flash V9 to be able to root again.

The critical piece after Force Flashing V9 is to flash the V9 recovery (Force Flash V9 doesn't touch the recovery partition, so you still have the VC recovery partition after Force Flash V9).

You have enough knowledge that I think you should just follow the alternate instructions for advanced users in the reference section. It'll be less steps.

In step 4 of the Advaned instructions, just use the Force Flash VC procedure instead of using the LG Software Updater tool.

We should probably continue the conversation in the Idiots guide thread so as not to clutter this one with off-topic stuff.

Go through the custom recovery installation in the Control Center again. This time choose drellisdee's custom recovery. And no, the Control Center is designed to flash the recovery image for you.

Gave it a shot earlier tonight, fantastic job I'd like to make one suggestion if possible though. If you could, please provide a means to reset the stated answers given when you first start up the program. During my process of going from V9 to VC (or attempting to, but that's another story) tonight, when I was just giving your program a shot earlier, I had just entered everything relevant to how my phone was at first (ie - V9, rooted, thunderc recovery). Then, after finally getting VC loaded, I went back into your program and realized that there was no way to make it ask for those values again. Since I'd already said I was rooted (was on V9), I was unable to use it to root VC. Finally tracked down the registry values that I had to clear in order to make your program ask the questions again... but maybe some sort of "reset config" type option would be nice?

Again though... fantastic work. Looking forward to future additions.

So I'm just trying to clarify, is the question about recoveries? If so you can find more information in the sticky guide, specifically post #2 which explains the difference between the recoveries. One is based off Koushe's clockwork and one is based off amon_ra which is kind of the grandfather of custom recoveries.

If the question is about use or functionality of the control center then those questions need to be posted in the control center thread. If every person with a question posts outside of that thread then drew is chasing his tail trying to help people and valuable information is scattered around multiple posts rather than in a central location.

    Thanks in advance

In addition to my other post about giving the ability to reset the program's settings (so you can re-enter them), when you get things back up in a workable state on your end (), would it be possible to include the 1.2 version of the Thunderc recovery instead of the 1.1 version? 1.2 allows for sub-folders, which makes dealing with files to flash a HELL of a lot easier.

    Thanks in advance.
