thanks for the info!
OK, my question is do you download those files to your phone or onto your computer? I have all files need but just don't know how to start the process. Am I using the Adb shell. I rooted my phone using the adb shell method but I have a buddy that does want to root his phone and he is use to that one click method like androot or z4root. But just don't know how to do this one click method of rooting.
Thanks for your help in advanced!

Download the file to your computer and extract them.
Then, run 'gingersnap.exe'.
Plug in your phone.
Press 'Go'

Yes it can take a while. Also, make sure you are using it on a fresh reboot of your device.
trying now
Possibly make sure that ADB Interface is installed and that ADB can see the device
this is a wonder program thanks for hte DEV on it
Had some errors with the xda method, gonna try this one, thx
Make sure your device is freshly rebooted before using Gingersnap.
I'll give this a try and report back with my experience.
I'm finally getting the guts to root my LG Optimus S.....Once I use the Gingersnap Root Utility will I lose any of my applications, pictures, voicemail & text msgs? What added features would I get from rooting? :-[ I'm a newbie to rooting cell phones.
You will lose no apps or data or anything you have on your phone now. Rooting opens the door to endless possibilities. Custom roms that make the phone experience faster and better overall is the number one reason IMO. But that is just the beginnjng. Read around the forum here and you will see what I'm talking about. Also there is a lot of helpful users and devs to help you along the way.
Take the plunge, its worth it.
