Gingerbread and email notification sound bug?

So far I haven't had any problems with the Gingerbread update like many others have, but today I did find what I think is a bug. I was on a phone call and the built in email app did a send/receive and got new email, I know this because I heard the new mail notification sound very loudly in my ear as I was talking to my friend. On Froyo the notification sound was muted if the phone was on a call. Anyone know how to fix this? Ironically enough it only does this on the email app. If I receive new email to my gmail account (using gmail app) or a sms message the phone doesn't blast the notification sound in my ear.

Haven't noticed that myself, but I will say that after seeing some of the other bugs with this update, unfortunately this does not surprise me. Lmao, sprint and LG did a number on this one. It feels like instead of thorough testing, assumptions that everything would "just work like it did before", took its place.
