Hi, I've searched high and low for help on installing a custom rom onto my US cellular LG Optimus U phone I got recently, but I'm not sure if I should follow the guides to doing so on an Optimus S. I'm not entirely sure if its the same phone, just rebranded?

I have it rooted with Z4root, which was crazy easy to do. Basically I would like to overclock the phone, speed it up a bit, etc. I've deleted a few stock apps with Titanium backup also.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is it possible? And can I return the phone to "stock" easily in the future? The un-root on z4root works awesome too.

Thanks a lot for your time!

You would have to get a Custom Recovery for the phone before you do anything.

Once you get a Custom Recovery installed, then you would do a
Full nandroid backup to make sure you can restore back to defaults.

LG Optimus S / Optimus U / Optimus V Specs, Features (Phone Scoop)

It looks like the S / U / V models are all similar, but there is always a chance
that they are configured a little differently, and some of these have the
buttons swapped around.

It MIGHT be possible to use the custom recovery files for the Optimus S
but you would be taking a risk in trying to flash those.

One of the DEV's here may no more on that.

actually i think that thunderc recovery was originally made for either the optimus T or the optimus U still though I would ask someone else first because a custom recovery that works right is very important just putting that out there
