Re: Verizon gets marshmallow tomorrow... (Update: It is out now!)
Go ahead for the update, most likely between Google and Verizon all the bugs are worked out ( that's why they take so long), enjoy Marshmallow

Same problem here with Nova; fps, double knock close, forced to use pattern to unlock. But if I lock the screen, wake with double knock... It works with the fps. Definitely the Nova shortcut. Don't know of a fix.... Maybe Nova does.

When I opened my dialer for the very first time it was showing loading contacts for a long long time to the point where I couldn't wait and at the same I wasn't able to get to the actual dial pad so I had to close it. Tried another 5 times with the same result. Eventually it just worked - opened normally. But just know I realized that most of the contacts I entered in the last month or two are not there and this what I saw when I went into the settings. I kept trying to sync again - turning it on and off and still showing the same message on the bottom.
Note- I wiped cashed data right before the update and after.

Mine does this every time, and did the same thing in Lollipop, as well. Never could get the contacts to sync.

I've had the opposite experience. I updated 4 days ago. Previously, doing the stuff I normally do I'd easily make it through a full day on a charge. Now, consistently dead by 16:30.
Power cycled numerous times to no effect. Considering app. removal although the app. usage in settings doesn't reveal any smoking gun.
Disappointed.

I'll add to my previous post that I've not yet done a backup and reset, trying that now and will report back if it improves battery life.

I got rid of Google saving my contacts. Use Verizons cloud and SD card now. As I always had problems with contacts sync with Google. Or when it did sync them, there were only 1/4 of the contacts that would sync.

That is what I did, now my battery is back or better then what it was. The first day it was horrible. Now back to normal or better, depends what I'm doing that day.

Re: Verizon gets marshmallow tomorrow... (Update: It is out now!)
I have discovered that if I suspend the phone with the power button then the FPS works the next time I turn it on. If I use the suspend power widget I have installed, then I get the pattern unlock on the next power up.

Re: Verizon gets marshmallow tomorrow... (Update: It is out now!)
I am also seeing higher battery usage during the night. Not outrageous, but about 50% or more higher than prior to the MM upgrade.
When I check to see what the culprit is, the number 1 by far user is "phone idle".
I don't remember seeing that item in the top few with Lollipop.
After researching it a bit, I tried clearing the caches, etc.
Thinking about it, I decided to check the mobile network settings and found that the update had changed my network setting to "Global", which was also the default when I got the V10. In the past, I have found this setting to increase battery usage so I changed it back to LTE/CDMA.
I will let you know if things improve.

I did the same and it still drains faster

Did the backup/reset/restore and that did the trick. Battery life now at least as good as it was previously, perhaps better.

Did you use the LG backup?
Did all of your settings and accounts return properly?

Yes, used LG backup/restore. I think it's fair to say MOST accounts and settings returned OK. Notable exceptions include gmail and yahoo mail, had to set up manually. Also, things like Bluetooth/wifi were not as I'd left them before the backup but really only on/off state. Wifi password came across OK. Other accounts including tapatalk, Dropbox, etc., seem to be OK.
Minor hassle getting set up again but worth it for getting battery life back to normal.

I assume that you did the Factory data reset.

I just sync all my data to my Google account. App Data, and all came through great with a factory reset.

Re: Verizon gets marshmallow tomorrow... (Update: It is out now!)
I went to restore and LG backup tells me that my backup file is damaged.
This is going to be painfull

Re: Verizon gets marshmallow tomorrow... (Update: It is out now!)
I have been using Marshmallow for the past one month and I am loving the updated features. The issues of upgrading is the heavy battery usage but with constant tweaking you can control your battery drain.

Re: Verizon gets marshmallow tomorrow... (Update: It is out now!)
The reason your phone might seem sluggish at first and use more battery life is when you updated the Operating System it reset your cache. After about a week the system will have re-learned your usage patterns. Then you will start to notice the benefits of Marshmallow especially in battery life and with the fingerprint scanner (it's now using the Android driver instead of having to use the LG one).
To avoid Verizon adding bloatware during the update disable the program called DT Ignite. It is basically malware carriers put on phones to allow them to install unwanted bloatware apps after you get your phone without your permission (sometimes without even your knowledge). These apps cannot be uninstalled and some can't even be disabled which might be one of the reasons some people are getting worse battery life.
So find DT Ignite in your application settings and disable it immediately. It won't prevent the Marshmallow or even security updates just crap that you won't want or need that cannot be uninstalled or disabled later.
Run a search on DT Ignite for more information or if you doubt me. You're welcome.
Marshmallow is much better than the previous Operating System. It won't look much different, but Doze, Google on Tap, the ability to control app permissions, and the FPS drivers are great improvements. If your phone isn't getting pretty significant better battery life after a week using Marshmallow then something is wrong with your phone because it's not Marshmallow.
Also the Nova Prime double tap problem is a known issue they're working on. I would submit a complaint with them anyway. The more people who complain the faster it will get fixed. Nova Launcher is constantly adding new fixes and features, but the ones with the most complaints or interest get worked on first.

Re: Verizon gets marshmallow tomorrow... (Update: It is out now!)
If you're having issues with Google syncing your contacts, calendar, Gmail, what I do is go to Accounts and delete your Google account. Then I open the Play Store app and it will ask you for your Gmail account info. Once you enter your Gmail address and password everything will start syncing again. Then go back to Accounts and tap on your Google account and check to make sure it did.

Wtf I just did it and lost 80% of contacts more !!! No clue what to do now.
Update - phew, now adding back (syncing) few to a dozen contacts at a time...
Kinda stopped after 10min but I still have around 400 contacts missing. Among which are favorites (family)
My battery is still horrible so I might end up doing factory reset after all. Stand by mode - 2-3% per hour and when in use - just lost 15 percent in the last 45 min! All I was doing was going trough settings and did that sync.

A good portion of my data was backed up on Verizon Cloud (messages, contacts, etc.) and I had set Google Backup to backup my app data. The data gets reset when you reload the apps. I had backed up my launcher settings too.
Other than having to reload all apps and setup accounts, I didn't lose a lot of data and gained a snappier running phone. Leaner too without a bunch of unneeded apps.

Re: Verizon gets marshmallow tomorrow... (Update: It is out now!)
Update:
The first overnight after my factory reset, the morning battery percentage was higher (91% at 11 hours in) than it had ever been on lollipop and much higher than before the reset.

I don't think I've ever done a factory reset. When you do that, do you have to setup your email accounts and other stuff again?
