Everything I find regarding this issue seems to be outdated. I have a wallet cover on my LG v10 . my screen wont light back up when i go to hang up with someone and I pull the phone away from my face. I bought my v10 used and I know Tmo wont do anything about it. any workarounds ????or fixes for this? thanks

If there's any significant (meaning "has any mass") mass in the wallet cover, the phone sees the cover as "your face". Try taking the cover off and see what happens. If it starts working, it's the cover. The proximity sensor is normally on the top "non-screen" edge of the phone, so look there for any appreciable thickness of leather (your skin and leather show as about the same thing). And look for a magnet at the top that keeps the case closed - that can also confuse the sensor.

If not, you need a new proximity sensor. The whole assembly is about $10, the sensor itself is about $6, but the labor is a lot more than a few sensors. The phone has to be opened - and that makes the repair shop liable for any damaged parts they didn't notice.

Thanks for the fast response . Yes without cover seems to work better then it works intermittently when cover is back on so unfortunately I'll have to take to my local repair shop . I have had good luck with them so hopefully the fix wont be too much if I decide to just go ahead and replace the sensor.

Google service mode for your device and check the sensor.. it will be like #*0#* or similar...
Also check where the sensor is to make sure the case isn't covering it..

Use Sensor Kinetics to see if it's actually the physical sensor itself.

My V10 seems to do this now and again, and it's cured--however temporarily--with a reboot. Sensor Kinetics shows that the sensor itself is fine.

I fixed this with a factory reset. It was driving me nuts that I couldn't regain control of my screen unless I hung up my call... Reset is extreme but it clears out the cobwebs sometimes.

Ran into this issue last week. Did full backup restore to no avail. Turned out was little piece of dirt on proximity sensor that was the culprit. Sometimes the simplest things are the issue.
