Whoa nearly 800 pictures? Was that on one battery or two? I haven't had a full photo session yet but what I have noticed is that the camera doesn't kill the battery as rapidly as it did on the V10. And the battery life bas been so good on the V20 that I haven't bothered to get a second battery and charging cradle yet.

On about 1/4 of a battery. Got out of the car at 100% and we were in the caverns maybe 20 minutes later. No cell reception at all obviously. I forgot to turn off the cell radio but it didn't matter. 90 minutes and about 800 pictures later we were back on the surface and I still had 75% battery. Phone never even felt warm. It was constant 70 degrees and 99% humidity. I was really surprised.

I agree. Photos were tough on the V10 battery but not so much on the V20.

I started about 25 feet from this squirrel eating out of a bird feeder.

I kept moving forward and he let me get about 2 feet from him. He jumped to the tree a couple times but always back to that free food in the feeder. I didn't dare get any closer because at one point he was staring right at me and looked like he wanted to jump at my face.

Those Carlsbad photos, relatively low light, don't look a lot different than what I took with film on a real SLR some 15 years ago. It is a good validation for leaving the real camera home. ;)

Man I'm not sure what's more impressive; the battery life or the fact that you took all those pictures in 90 minutes. Pretty impressive eother way.

Haha... Well, taking pictures was my job. Thought my GF would be able to take some pics with the G5 but she had child duty. Some slippery walking paths, switch back ramps, no touching the formations, etc, kept her busy. I fell to the back of the group multiple times just snapping away. Missed a lot of the tour guide monologue but oh well. The pics were more important.

Shot this in manual. First one was edited in Lightroom from the raw file:

For comparison, here's the associated jpeg the camera app created from the same exposure.
