I went to a model train show today and tried practicing panning shots to show motion. This was about the only half decent shot I got with that technique. I don't think this phone is very suitable for that. LolView attachment 283418
This is a nice shot and it just takes a little practice but any phone with the manual controls the V20 has is suitable for these types of shots. It's just not as easy as it looks.

Thanks. I think my problem is how close I was, and the shutter lag (the time from when I pressed the button to when it actually took the shot). I'm going again today with my DSLR, and may try again.

Cool. Well post those results here too if you get something good.

Man I love my phone but this thing has yet failed me again albeit in a not so important as the last time moment. I even switched the camera settings to save internally to hopefully avoid any delays in writing to the memory card but alas the camera app froze on me again today while shooting videos of my kids at the playground. Nothing demanding or strenuous. Just shooting videos and the app became unresponsive. Tapped different settings. Managed to turn the phone off and on again and the camera app was still frozen before the phone shut off and rebooted. I don't know why this started happening more often seemingly this year but I'm really about to just get a cheap reliable phone and wait for the V40/Pixel 3(or S9+) since those are the only phones I really have in my radar at the moment. The P20 Pro to a further extent as well. But I can't take this much longer.

In other news l went to see Infinity Wars and it was great and long but the ending left more questions than answers for me at least. I don't follow all the movies though so that's probably why. Got a few shots with Google camera.

Manual Camera is the only camera app I've encountered with manual settings for the front camera and they actually work. Took two one second exposures handheld with no edits at the movies which is pretty impressive given the lighting conditions.

Trying more panning shots, this time while doing some off leash training with one of our dogs (He did great by the way). Edited in Snapseed and Photoshop Express.PSX_20180508_203815.jpg

Shot this through a hospital window (I'm not the patient!), and had a surprising amount of noise for being ISO 50. Still, I love these types of fluffy detailed clouds.PSX_20180526_205121.jpg

At the hospital visiting my new son in the NICU (he's doing well) and can see the heli pad outside the lounge window. This was just after takeoff about 300 ft from the window, so I'm heavily relying on the digital zoom here. Gotta love that 1/2000" blade stop shutter action. Lol. Edited in snapped to get around auto noise reduction issues.0621181449a-02.jpeg
