Hello, this is my first time having an LG phone. So far it is pretty fast and silky smooth. The only thing i'm not liking is the drop in screen on time for me compared to my note 7. I was getting about 6 hours of SoT. I'm doing the same thing on the V20 and i'm currently on pace for about 3 hours and some change. On my Note, I did use package disabler. Is there something similar for the V20? Please share your battery saving trickery.

GPS power saving mode. Reduce brightness as much as you can stand. Force close apps you don't use esp Amazon and Facebook if you don't use them. No way you're getting 6 hours though

That's interesting as I get better battery life on the V20 vs the Note 7 but it seems I am in the minority. I get 4.5 to 5 hours of SOT on the V20. Both Note7s I had never got more than 4.

This is likely counter productive. Don't be surprised if you go back to the app manager again later, only to find those apps running again. Android is designed to keep memory full, which helps with battery life. Apps in the background generally remain dormant and use little to no power. Closing apps, or using those memory booster/optimizer apps, can actually increase battery consumption as the OS now spends more power initializing those or other apps in the background to refill the memory blocks.

If you really don't want to use an app, uninstall it or disable it. That's the only way to prevent it from being restarted and using resources. If that's not an option, for things like carrier bloat, then make sure you're logged out of those so they have no reason to be trying to sync or whatever in the background.

That's kinda sad to disable all that on a new phone just to function for the day.

Thanks. I used the wrong jargon. I meant disable not force close.

Same here. Battery life is really bad compared to N7. I barely get 3 hours out of V20.. With N7 I had a luxury leaving home with 55% charge and not stressing about it. Not anymore I guess..

    Ah, no worries then.

Ditto this. Plus, Chrome will give you a pop-up asking if you want to receive push notifications from Facebook (and other sites) if you'd like. I've never used th FB app, but I've read the mobile site version is virtually identical. The only issue is it may have problems uploading pics via Chrome, to which I posted a thread about with a solution recently.

I've also had good success using Metal and eventually bought the Pro version. It is basically a wrapper for FB in the browser but it gives you control over a number of settings that can limit battery and data usage. It also supports Twitter which eliminates the need for 2 apps.

My only gripe with it was trying to upload photos and videos to FB which I found slow and clunky. They have updated it recently to improve performance though.

I haven't reinstalled it since getting my v20 last Thursday. Using the default FB and Twitter apps for now but not noticing the battery consumption like I did on my Note 7.
