Having very good battery life after installing the latest update. Also, manually setting screen brightness helps and switching WiFi to standby when phone is idle is a plus.

No luck for me today as phone idle has burned up just about as much battery as the screen being on. Not sure why but probably one of those fluke days.

UPDATE: I've been getting 4 - 6 hour SOT now (probably due to apps and features I've installed). Still amazing and a very reliable battery performance.

I leave mine on high accuracy (been testing it out for a last week or so) and mine is still decent. Maybe that's why I don't constantly get 6 hours of SOT like you. Haha
Yeah it definitely drains the battery quicker. I couldn't figure out why I was having those spikes where the battery would just nosedive in standby mode. The GPS seems to be the top candidate for why that happened. You should turn yours off and see what a difference it makes.

I tend not to have those nose dives.. But I also turned off WiFi scan and Bluetooth scan.. I'm on 20h with 4h30m SOT time and 26 percent left.

My V20: I charge my phone to 100% before I go to sleep and unplug it. When I wake up 7-8 hours later, it is still at 100%. I have the battery saver running and all my apps including Facebook running. For all previous phones, this would result in a phone with 70-80% and I would have to charge it in the car on my way to work. My V20 doesn't need to be charge until around 3-4PM with minimal use except during lunch when I'm using it more. The phone NEVER gets hot and I think this is one of the reasons why the battery lasts forever. BTW I bought the extra battery and the battery charger cradle for it so I can go to a long concert with no worries. I have a power bank but I don't think I will ever need it. The extra battery will be sufficient.

That's not bad either.

yeah, I'm not mad at this battery.. LOL we both came from the V10. Have you tried to turn off the wifi and BT scanning on GPS? Also, turn off location history on Google? GPS rarely uses any of my juice, it's weird. Waze only used 7% of my battery also. and a game I played for 1h20 used 6% - only 252mah.. WEIRD

For an hour and 20 minutes only used 6%? Wow. But I've never tried any other battery saving methods. Besides not downloading Facebook amd Instagram previously I just used the phone and am pleased. I can't even imagine how much more I could squeeze out of the battery if I turned the second screen off completely which I never have tried.

All I did was turn on the data saver.. last time I tried this, it didn't make any difference, this time around it seems like it is.. especially with that game.. I just have voxer, slack, two email accounts, allo and hotspot not affected by the data saver and it seems to have worked well. I turned it on yesterday and I was surprised..

Turning the second screen off doesn't really do anything in my experience.. maybe save a percent or so.

But what helped me was Lux. I like auto brightness but the screen can get very bright, a little too bright for evenings, so I have Lux and set it never to go over a certain percentage and use it in smart mode to change with the location of the sun. I did that maybe a month ago and it does well for me.

My battery life has far exceeded expectations with the exception of two days where I had sudden steep drain (which, according to other users' reports appears to have been due to an FB update). I bought a 2nd battery but have only needed it once.

For whatever reason my battery life was atrocious today. First time I didn't make it home without having to power the phone off just so the battery wouldn't completely die. Looking at the stats Android system, Android OS, and Phone Idle really seemed to do a number as I was at 11% with less than 3 hours SOT! Crazy thing is the phone never overheated once in that time otherwise I would have probably restarted the device to see if that would've helped.

Com.qualcomm.atfwd under Android system is Qualcomm's Wi-Fi display service. Almost guaranteed it ran rogue for some reason and caused your issues today.
