The crazy thing is that my phone says the update is waiting to be downloaded but the update thing says no update is available
Try rebooting device. Android 7.0 and higher can download and install firmware updates in the background and all it takes to get it fully finished is a reboot. If that doesn't work download lg bridge on your computer and update it through there.

I wish this was some glaring issue with 7.0 that made 7.1.1 a must have for us V20 issues but I'd be dishonest if I wrote that I knew of one. My V20s continue to joyfully rock on with 7.0.

I know this is an option (yes, OEM's can opt not to use seamless updates), but I was under the impression the V20 wasn't setup for that. The last update I had certainly wasn't seamless.
