If I shut off wifi does the setting keep wifi on during sleep eat battery life?Is wi-fi scanning turned on? That can be found in different locations depending on the phone On my Nexus 6P, it's in Settings>Location, then Menu>Scanning>Wi-Fi Scanning. On the Note5, it's in Settings>Privacy>Location>Improve Accuracy. Not sure where it is on the V20.
Not in my experience. In fact battery shows wifi using battery even when phone is sleeping and wifi is turned off! I get 3 or 4 bars of LTE at home and I have udp so I usually shut off wifi at night. With wifi off it annoys me to see it uses battery.Without a doubt utilizing Wi-Fi instead of your cellular connection extends your battery life a lot. Especially if you have low signal strength where you live. Love using it.

Nope. My battery dies way quicker with WiFi.Without a doubt utilizing Wi-Fi instead of your cellular connection extends your battery life a lot. Especially if you have low signal strength where you live. Love using it.

My wifi signal may not be great where I leave my phone overnight. Router is at other end of house on a different floor. I also only use the fast wifi channel which doesn't have as much range as the slower. I forget the jargon.
But even with wifi OFF on phone it uses 2% of battery a night.Any weak signal (wifi or LTE) can drain a battery. Since your WiFi is weak in your house when you sleep that could very well explain the bigger drain on WiFi VS LTE.
My work WiFi drains my battery and Im right by the modem and its a strong signal.. I started a topic about it a little while agoAny weak signal (wifi or LTE) can drain a battery. Since your WiFi is weak in your house when you sleep that could very well explain the bigger drain on WiFi VS LTE.

Sitting idle overnight. I shut off wifi and bluetooth scanning. Didn't happen at first. Used to get 100% overnight. Then 99. Then 98. This morning only 95%. Always charge fully before going to bed. Leave phone face down which I think shuts of second screen. Phone idle and wifi use the most battery even wifi and wifi scanning are shut off. I wondered if shutting off "wifi stays awake" setting would do anything? I've tried wifi on and wifi off. Doesn't seem to matter. Wifi using about 2% of battery every night. I was spoiled by the great numbers the first week. 95% Isn't horrible after 8 hours but had been pretty consistently at 98% or better before. Phone seems to go about 6 hours with no drain at all then last 2 or 3 hours it drains.Technically anything will drain the battery but are you doing stuff like streaming music and stuff over the WiFi or is it sitting idle?
This is yours! LOLMy work WiFi drains my battery and Im right by the modem and its a strong signal.. I started a topic about it a little while ago

wifi scanning right? it's off.I mean did you check for those settings? The settings I am talking about allows Google to fire up your wifi and bluetooth to scan nearby devices at random. Even if you shut them off before you went to bed.
