Hoping some of the V20 owners out there could share their best tips & tricks based on their experience with the V20. Am considering picking one up and would love to hear about all of the cool features, shortcuts and general tips you've uncovered while using the phone!

If you uninstall certain included apps from LG, they are recoverable not from SETTINGS/ APPS, where you might expect to find them, but from
    Settings
    About Phone
    Update Center

So I have learned the hard way.

This depends on the version of phone you have. Verizon models do not have the update center.

Aha. TMO here. I've been on TMO for so long, can't remember what a phone from another carrier looks like.
Thanks for noting that. Certainly odd--guarantees nothing is ever simple.

Looks like there is a trade-off in that I don't think the Verizon version lets you fully uninstall the LG apps. I only have the open to disable.

This may be old hat to some but it's new to me since I have always used third party messenger apps. You can pinch to enlarge and shrink the size of text in messenger.

Go to settings > general > about phone > software info > and then tap 'build number' 3 times to enable developer mode. Then go back to settings > general > developer mode > and then scroll down until you see "window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animator duration scale. Now turn them all off. Now watch how fast and fluid your OS will be! I do this for all my other android phones, a huge improvement in speed when navigating through the OS.

Then go to settings > networks > mobile data > and then go through your apps and pick the ones you DON'T want to have background data permissions (such as Facebook) and then press disable background data. It'll help you save battery and data. Alternatively you can enable "data saver mode" as well from the notification bar dropdown shortcut.

Last but not least, install the following free apps:

    ForceDoze
    Greenify

Follow the instructions from the ForceDoze app and enable it. It will significantly improve battery life when the phone is idle.

Install Greenify and tap the + symbol to select apps you want to hibernate. The developer suggests that you only hibernate apps YOU RARELY USE. Then occasionally, press the hibernate button and hibernate those apps. You'll see an improvement in battery life. On average I get around 5-6 hours SOT. Sometimes more, sometimes less (depending on usage and apps installed).

Not to mention, forcedoze doesn't even work for Android N.. I used to use greenify with all my phones since it released, but for my v20 it seems to drain it. :-/

I've noticed a minor bug where the secondary screen will get stuck on its immersive mode, showing the clock, signal strength, and notification icons. It'll stay like this even when on your home screen.

So this tip is how to reset it.

Chances are, you had been in a full screen app, like a game or the photo gallery, and exited in a non-standard way. I.e. You used the home button or recent apps button to switch instead of using the back button or the app's dedicated exit functions when available. What you need to do is go back into that app and then fully exit it rather than simply sending it to the background.

This bug doesn't always pop up in my experience, so it could perhaps be a lack of optimization on the app rather than a bug of the V20 itself. I've also noticed you have to use the original triggering app in question. If it was a game that triggered the bug, viewing a photo in the gallery and then exiting from it will not work. You have to go back into that game and then exit out from it.

A place on the phone with all your apps, makes it so you don't have to have all your apps on the homescreen. If you don't have it set that way home to settings>display>home and select home with app drawer.

Go to Settings, then into the home screen settings. From there you can choose which "Home" to use, and you'll want the "Home with separate apps list."

Expand your screen size by hiding the Home Touch Buttons!

This tip really makes the LG V20 look practically bezel less. Go to Settings, Display , Home and touch buttons, Hide home touch buttons and turn them all ON. This will remove the dock from the screen. When you want your dock (or Home and touch Buttons) to reappear just swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

The Home and Touch buttons will always stay on when in "settings"

Did you know ir blaster can "learn" ir codes of obscure devices? I have a cheap remote control fan that I can now control with my V20.

QuickRemote App uses this capability. Many others only allow you to choose from a list. If device not there you're out of luck

    More tips:

Double tap the notification bar to lock/turn off the screen at ANY app screen.

Also you could pinch to zoom in and out of LG default apps like messaging to increase or decrease font/icon size.

You can take a selfie with the gesture showing 5 fingers and then turning that hand into a fist to begin the 3 second countdown.

If you install the calculator apk from the older LG G4/V10, you can add it to the floating Q Slide apps. Q Slide is located in the home touch buttons options in settings.

More themes can be downloaded from the LG Smart World app or the Google Play Store. There are some free ones on there. I really like the Grace UX theme. G5 & G6 themes are all compatible.

You can add emojis to the second screen signature for more creative ideas.

SOME type of widgets can be added to the 2nd screen app shortcut.

You can download and use 360 photos as wallpaper. Pretty cool but will drain battery. You can also use the LG 360 cam and create your own 360 photo.

For faster low-light camera focus, change camera mode to manual, then change the S setting to 1/50 and adjust ISO accordingly. Nearly as fast as the S8.

Go to settings > mobile data > messages > then enable unrestricted data usage for automatic downloading of group SMS or MMS messages.

For optimal battery performance, try installing Greenify and Force Doze. Do not use auto app hibernation for Greenify and only manually hibernate apps once in a while. For Force Doze, you'll have to install a few apps on your PC and also the phone USB driver and then run some commands on ADB. I get between 4-6.5 hours SOT.

Slickwraps and D Brands offers great skin wrap protection and better grip for those who want to use no case OR change the look of your V20.

You probably already know this but you can press and hold the home button, then swipe up for Google Assistant.

Dual window. This is a feature on Android Nougat. While in an app screen, press and hold the recent apps button from the home touch buttons (square button). Now you can select a recent app to begin split screen, OR if you press the home button (circle button), you can go ahead and select the app you wish to split screen with. Great for listening to YouTube music while doing something else. *Note: not all apps may be compatible.
