Yesterday my battery dropped 81% in 3 hours only. I was only listening to Pandora at work and that's it.
Looked at battery usage and Pandora was 28% Snapchat 21% with which I maybe looked at one Snapchat.
Now today I've only used my phone for an hour and it's down to 73% already.
This is not normal at all.
    Something is definitely wrong.
    Any one else having issues?

Yes! This morning I had the same experience dropping from 80 to 13 in about 4 hours. Battery usage indicated Facebook using the most at 17%. That doesn't explain a drop like that. After charging for 15 minutes the display read 3% battery. After a battery pull the display read 43% battery. Very strange.

Same thing last 2 days, no new apps, on Verizon with the Dec security patch.

Me as well, I'm on AT&T. My phone randomely freezes about once/twice a week, (something I just put up with I guess) this morning froze up 3 times and was down to 15%. I ordered a Mate 9 from Amazon. I may be throwing the baby out with the bathwater here but I think it was the last straw...

Screenshots of battery use would really help here.

My GF reported battery drain on her G5 this morning after not having any issues at all recently. I looked at the stats and Facebook and Facebook messenger were the culprits. Looks like a recent update could be the issue. Several complaints over on XDA across multiple devices in regards to Facebook as well.

on vzw. updated. no problems. Dropped from full to 98% last night. That's about normal. Nothing unusual today.

    I don't use facebook.

Mine did thus morning.. I was like what the heck??!! I started charging mine back up when I got to my desk... Didn't think it was this wide of an 'issue' so I didn't think to screen shot it before I plugged it in.

Mine has been draining really fast today as well. I did not charge it overnight and when I went to the gym this morning, it was at 39%. When I was getting ready to leave it was down to 15%! That was after about an hour and a half. I'm on AT&T. No new apps. Looked at battery stats and Facebook was at 11% and FB Messenger was at 9%. I just did the AT&T security update and am charging now. Hopefully this gets sorted. If not, I'll disable FB and Messenger.

Some guys over at XDA said uninstalling and reinstalling FB and Messenger fixed the issue. Might be worth a try.

Facebook is always a problem, it will ping to your location every few minutes or so, plus it's collecting data on you wherever you go on your phone.

    Here what to do
Clear your cache- settings, storage cached data
Disable Facebook notifications entirely in the app, then go into your settimgs-apps and give it no permissions

You can do this with all apps draining battery by just looking at some of the data with gsam or even the stock battery app.

If you just updated and didn't clear cache prior that could be an issue as well. Clear the cache and restart the phone as optimization of the update affects application behavior from a prior build.

Other good tips for this phone is turnoff the Google backup in the backup and reset settings tab. Once you've done it, you have the data, doesn't need to happen every few hours.

Also put GPS in battery saving mode, you won't notice it if you're not using maps. When you use maps just turn it back on high accuracy. It's a big difference.

Go through all the apps in settings and apps and make sure you limit permissions in as many apps as possible. So many developers have their applications set to use them all so turn em back off if your not using them.

Go into your accounts and make sure you don't have stuff syncing that you don't use that much.

    That should help!

I was having as high as usage if it helps delete app data and clear the cache. Then i discharged the battery and everythhing is back to normal today

I thought I'd check the forum this morning because I'm seeing the same today. In my case I attributed it to turning on T-Mobile Digits this morning, but I'm not so sure. I have used the phone a fair amount today starting at 8am, but I'm now at 82% on my extra battery...

I'm running FB messenger, but not the FB app (the mobile version via Chrome has pretty much the identical user experience), and having no battery related problems.
