Just picked up a V20 and I'm coming from a G3. Still trying to learn this one but the biggest issue I have a the moment is that I've got a ton of application icons and want to trim those down to the main ones I use. On my G3 I could hold the icon and there would be a Remove and Uninstall option at the top of my screen. On V20 I only have the option to uninstall, which truly uninstalled one and not actually removed it. When I did a Google search is sounds as though I should have a remove option at the top. Anyone know why I might not have the uninstall?

Man, they have really changed this forum UI since I last used it and can't figure out how respond to a message so I have to edit the question.

I only have the stock launcher. Guess I need to look at an aftermarket one like Nova. Never used and aftermarket one before.

Are you using stock skin or a launcher?

Welcome to the forums. Most recent LG models come with the app drawer disabled by default, meaning that all your apps reside in the home screens. To enable it go to settings - select home screen - select home - tap Home & app drawer. Tell us how it goes.

    Thanks, that's better.

I think I saw on a Tips & Tricks video a suggestion for an aftermarket launcher. I'll have a look at one of those.

Looks like I have a bit of customizing to do but so far I'm excited about this phone. My G3 was a good phone and had it for about 2.5 years. I'm only upgrading because of some connectivity issues and I believe it's with the phone and not my service. Even though I just got it I think this is going to be a really good upgrade. Came close to getting a G6 but I liked the fact that the V20 has the removable battery and seems to have a bigger screen.

I have the V20 as a backup phone and do enjoy it quite a bit. I had the LG G6 before I got my main phone and sincerely disliked it. Smaller form factor and I'm not sure why but I really just didn't care for it at all. V20 is a very decent phone

i got mine around Nov. and really like it. This phone will be 2 years old I think in Oct. but it's got every feature I wanted minus the wireless charging and it cost me 250 and looks brand new still. I refuse to pay 700 for a phone! I always use Nova Launcher but with this phone I couldn't get it set up the way I wanted it so I'm just using the stock launcher and I have it laid out the way I want. The knock to lock didn't completely shut off the screen, then the knock to wake acted weird. Let me know if you figure it out. I haven't cared enough to invest a lot of time.

I added the Nova launcher this afternoon, I've never used it before. It helped with my widget. I use HDWidget to get a nice time/temp display and with the stock launcher it would only span about 3/4 of the screen. With the Nova launcher it goes all the way across like I wanted. I'm still learning the other stuff with the launcher.

As far as the knock, right out of the box it works like my G3 did. When the screen is turned off I just tap twice and it wakes up the phone. I didn't do anything to set it up that way but I do need to add a swipe lock to it.

I'm still looking for a good contacts app, mostly to clear the duplicate contacts I have.

Try out the Microsoft Launcher. I was never into launchers, but I tried it and it made the phone so much better for me. I also use Cortana instead of Google assistant.

You can go to settings > general > apps > and go press the top right button (three dots) and select SHOW SYSTEM. Then from here you can go through every single pre-installed apps and features and disable them. You cannot permanently delete them.. some apps you cannot uninstall unfortunately. This is why I got the unlocked version because there's less bloatware.

With the launcher, you can download the Pixel launcher APK for the pure Android experience:
