Anyone switching to the new Galaxy S10 to access Verizons 5G? Reports the new LG will be 5G also.

I am staying with my V20 for at least 2 more years until the battle is over.

I'm going to hold out with V20 as,long as I can because of battery. User Interface starting to crash occasionally.
Real functional 5G is still at least a year a way.
Then the initial phones will struggle with battery life carrying both attennae.
Just not sure how long current phone will last.

I'm trying to hold out until a phone comes out that can match the features of the V20. I couldn't care less about 5G service.

Huawei still has ir blaster but government won't let them sell them here. It's stupid we can buy a Huawei computer and that is safe but their phones will steal our national secrets? Bullfeathers

I have had my V20 since October 2016. Zero problems. I will be waiting for either the 7T or the Pixel 4. No hurry as I am spoiled with the DAC, IR blaster, and removable battery 😁

Same here, I purchased a new battery from LG which is still in the bag and with a 128GB sd card I see no reason to upgrade and pay a monthly upcharge.

I will hold onto my v20 until it i start having problems with it.Or somebody makes a phone that doesnt have curved edges, can take abuse ( no glass back), a 16x9 aspect ratio, (I dont want a tall thin phone),and if if it has a non removable battery make it big enough. I dont mind the extra weight.

    Not buying a S10 .
    Don't like the Bixby button.
Don't want to worry about it getting turned back on with a update.

    Other people make 5G phone's.
But I was at Verizon today.
They said 5G round cell sites are bring put up as fast as they can.
5 G is gonna be more complicated to put up and shoot very far.
But it's gonna be super fast.

Like where I have 5K download on my internet.
    5G will be like 340K.
They have at least another year or so before they get enough 5G cell sites up.
And 5G phone's will work on 4G cell sites.
But by the end of this year.
They are gonna quit offering 3g service.
Think he said a 5 G phone will not work on a 3G service.

5G is the beginning of the end for all non-5G phones... Including V20.

having said that, I am really skeptical about the implementation time frame. I don't believe it will take 1 or 2 years to saturate the coverage everywhere the same way 4G has it covered now.

To get to that level.. I wonder if it will take 4-5 years.
I think "5G in a year" is a marketing thing. I think it's nice but now measured in addresses not cities and unless it gets 4G map, will remain irrelevant for a while.

You can still get NIB/LNIB V20s... and can theoretically keep using it for the next 5 years.

Another reason why 5G phones do not make any sense now is because they are very expensive. Well over $1000 for S105G. Note 105G will be at least $1500. And there is no coverage.

5 g is getting to the big cities..it will be 2 yrs or longer before it gets to smaller cities..if you have a 5g phone.
    It will work on 4 g network's.

What is going out in about a yr.
    Is 3g.
    Not 4 g.

    Plus one.

I think 5G is a carrot used to sell phones but how many will actually get 5G service outside of major metro areas?
