Well I couldn't handily find a battery life thread so I decided to create one.

I am absolutely loving the battery life on my Silver V30. I am using it on T-Mobile.
I started paying attention on the amazing battery life on this device only in the last couple of days.

    49+ hours off the charger.
4 hours 45 minutes Screen On Time
    20% battery life remaining.

    Phone Idle used 22%
    Screen used 14%

I am sure I can squeeze out a bit more SOT time if I use it heavily in one day!
I have a friend who is reporting 10 hour SOT - that is very good.

What type of battery life stats are you getting?

Sound off here on the forums.

Wow, what great battery life! Let us know what you get next! I've heard very good things about battery life - I think my friend charges his only every other day.

The V30 is my first phone with non-removable battery, the concept which I'm still trying to digest. Whether I keep it for 2+ years or switch to something else in a year, preserving the battery longentivity is important (to me).

    My charging strategy -

-Never charge the battery above 90%, charge up to 80% when possible
-Don't charge to 100% and leave on charger
-Never discharge to below 20%, preferably 30%
-Avoid fast charging and wireless charging that causes the battery to heat up excessively. Battery heat is bad for Lithium batteries. I've taken my fast charge and QC chargers and use 5V, 2A output chargers instead.

To accomplish this I carry around a 6,400 mAh Anker battery pack. I also carry other gear so the battery pack isn't a big deal.

Bottom line - using the above guidelines I still only have to charge once a day, but instead of charging up to 100% each night and leaving it on the charger at 100% for 6 hours, use a more active approach.

I really do like your approach. Even though batteries are tougher nowadays, threads like these have me wondering if I'm putting unnecessary strain on mine. I let it sit on the charger; though I often make a point to unplug it from my bedside outlet if I happen to wake up during the night. I also give my phone "top-up" charges at least once a day so I think that is a bad habit that should be broken.

I've heard the V30 has great battery longevity; but I can definitely understand your wanting to keep the battery healthy. Good for you!

I'm consistently topping 4.5+ hr SOT at about 20% left. And usually the phone has been off charger for 30+ hours.
Yesterday I got that battery life despite heavy use of headphone and making that DAC work hard.

Did you guys upgrade to Android 8 and if you did how did it affect battery life.

With the 8.0.0 update from ATT, and without paying much attention to it, I think the battery life got just a little better; but it was good to start with on 7.x.

I think the battery actually got better with Oreo. It was already insanely good, but I'm over 21 hours off charge with 2 hours screen time and I've only used 29%.

This is smart. Still, removable batteries are the way to go. I downgraded from Samsung S8 plus to a 4 year old Note 4 because I like 10,000 mAh removable batteries and the 16:9 screen ratio.

Longevity has been completely ignored... I'm hoping that after the debacle with Apple throttling degraded phones (a smart engineering choice I actually think was the correct one... Should have made it clear though) that OEMs all start putting more effort into setting these phones up to better perserve performance over time.

Yes, there are ways we can help matters on our own, but it would be nice if we didn't have to.
