I love my V30. I bought it because of its music reproducing prowess. But I've also got a ZTE axon 7. Now the dac in the A7 is excellent, but no match for the V30 dac. What makes the A7 great is its ability to decode dolby encoded movies because it has the Dolby atmos installed. It would be nice if LG gave it to us when we get the android 8.0 update. What do you say LG?

Hopefully you get 8.0 -- I know LG is doing it but having to wait for carriers is the sucky part .

It's hard to really appreciate Dolby Atmos if you don't use the proper speaker setup. The whole idea is to envelope the room with omni-directional sound & that heavily relies on the speaker placement. It's not suited for headphone use & you won't be able to appreciate it using that tiny speaker on the S8. On the other hand, the speaker placement on the A7 was designed to support Dolby Atmos. If you really want a proper Dolby Experience, AMC now offers a Dolby Theater for select showings with Dolby Vision & Atmos.

If you're using headphones Dolby Digital Plus is the way to go. You can install the codec on Google Music for the V30. See the link below: (It's really Dolby Digital Plus not Atmos)

I was actually referring to headphone use. You should give atmos a try on a mobile device with headphones. It, certainly won't match what a full room setup will do but it makes a hell of a difference.

I saw a video on YouTube yesterday about that and the guy was saying ppl in UK are saying that it's not even in the final build that they have so idk about that yet. Will just have to wait and see what happens

I agree, it certainly makes a difference. I have played with Atmos on the A7 when it first came out, & I also have it installed on all my Windows machines. Atmos is good, but when compared to DD+ on headphones the overall sound quality drops for sounds that are off-center (unclear, boomy, muddy, etc.), but it's easier to determine where the sounds come from (distinctive localization) which could be useful for games & movies with specific Headsets but not for music with Hi-Res Headphones.

You also have to remember that both Atmos & DD+ use the same base form. DD+ gets you the same surround sound benefits without too much compromise & works well with almost every general headphone profile. Atmos only works best with specific 3D headphone profiles, otherwise you would get the side effects I mentioned earlier.

You are correct. Samsung took it out of the build.
