So I currently in the process of pre ordering on Sprint. It's asking me to change my current plan to a "premium" plan which costs more to take full advantage of the 5G capability. Can anyone shed some light on this new plan or have any experience with the process, thanks.

Article above has some info on this "Premium" Plan.

I see Sprint is up to its old tricks. I bought the HTC EVO 4G in 2010 which claimed to be the first "4G" phone (Wimax not LTE) and they charged us $10/month for this "Premium" service. I didn't get 4G speeds until 2 years later when my 2 year contract was over lol. They finally added the service in my city. However, Wimax was being phased out and LTE took over.

The shame is you may not get full 5G for a couple of years until it is fully implemented. (Sorry for the rant, could not resist)

It is a shame, especially since the Sprint/T-Mobile merger promised to not hike prices for 3 years with it's 5g rollout. I guess Sprint is quietly trying to bait customers right before the merger. I went ahead and ordered, I am in Houston so let's see what all the 5g fuss is all about. Phone should arrive tomorrow. I will post speed test results soon.

Turns out "Houston Market" means only West Houston for me. I am opposite of that so 5G is a no go for me. Sprint will not even let me activate this phone on my current plan; I have to upgrade my plan. I really like this phone but Sprint is giving me no leeway for keeping/activating it.
