Watch my carefully honed forum skills as I bring this back on track while still keeping it car related. I made it to the races yesterday and was able to see how well the V60 did with the jets.

https://youtu.be/kr3B9UkXKjk

To be honest, I'm a little disappointed compared to my V20. I had the audio gain turned down, so the wave form didn't show any clipping (love them manual video controls!), but it still sounds like there's some clipping or other small audible artifacts in the sound. I know the V20 mics were promoted as being higher than normal SPL mics, but I don't think the V60 mics got the same advertising attention. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, then, if they went with lower SPL mics.

Don't get me wrong, they still work great picking up sound and would be fine in 99.9% of situations. I just like to push that final 0.1% to see what A/V equipment can really do. Not everyone is going to be video recording while standing less than 20 feet away from a jet engine firing afterburners. Lol.

To compare, this is the jet dragster video from the V20 from a couple years ago, and it has no distortion.

I have another video I'll upload and share later when I have time, plus some photos.

When I first watched the video, I couldn't figure out what you were talking about. Then a few minutes ago I re-read the post and realized I had watched the V20 video. So I just watched the V60 video, and the only thing I could perceive, correctly or not, is the high pitched shrill of the jet engines sounds staticky to my ears. Considering how close you are and what you're recording, in both cases it's pretty impressive. I haven't recorded anything that loud since I exchanged my V50 for a OnePlus 8, but I know every Android phone I had before I got the V40 would be horribly blown out recording such a loud environment.
I can't find any slow motion burnouts in my collection to compare to yours, but that was very impressive. I was hoping for more smoke though. Maybe something like this: https://youtu.be/d_Zdjz4qu20

More smoke is always great visually, but not always for race performance.

Oh, and something I really dislike about LG's app when it comes to editing the slo-mo videos is it tries to add its own music. There's not a way to default it to none, so it's a stupid extra step you have to perform for every slo-mo video you want to process.

Yes, from the stock app. I did the slo-mo edits from the stock editor as well, then used YouCut to join them together as one.
Mooncatt, thanks. Loved the pictures and the videos. Had to be extremely loud when those jet cars got up there. I am really impressed with the slow-motion ability of the V60. I need to get outside and experiment with it.

Thanks for the compliments. If anyone is interested, this is my photo album from this weekend's races, but shot on my DSLR.

Thanks. I just bought the kit and that was my first outing with it. Photography has been an off and on hobby for a while, so it's not like the camera was the only thing that made them good.
I hear ya! One of the best cameras I ever owned was the Minolta x700 in the early 1980's. (Back in the film days) That was back in the days when you would shoot several roles of film, take them to be developed and HOPED you got a couple of good shots out of it. Couldn't preview anything back then.

I drove in a Special Olympics charity convoy today. The weather was pretty bad, but the turnout was still bigger than expected. I shot these all on auto mode due to time constraints. The first photo is the law enforcement lineup, who escorted us during the event.

Mooncatt: It's amazing how good this camera is even in rainy conditions. Thanks for the pictures, looks like the charity had a great turn out.

Thanks. All things considered, it was a better than expected turnout, but small compared to past years due to all the Covid stuff. Still waiting on final numbers, but looked to be around 100 trucks (normally around 200). Online donations leading up to it was about $13,000 with additional donations still being tallied (normally about $200k is raised).

More night time fun stuff. I'm unloading via gravity feed instead of using a pump like normal. Because of that, I have to leave the top hatch open to vent. The product is a cool 130°F, so it steams well for a nice photo op. The first photo is straight out of the camera HDR. In one of my first photos, I praised the V60's HDR. Not so much this time. Lol. The second is a traditional shot saved and edited heavily from RAW, ISO 50, 1/2" exposure, under exposed 2 stops.

I now have what may be an overly ambitious project cooking in my mind. Taking a decent Milky Way photo (or as best I can for my location) with my V60. I've been following this guy for a bit and I think I can adapt these techniques (and ones from his other videos) to a phone.
