Android Pay Not Working

Just purchased the LG Watch Sport and am liking it so far. Only issue is after some app updates it will not let me proceed with the set up of Android Pay. Keeps telling me after I hit "get started" that it "Can't connect: To finish set up, make sure your phone is on and nearby." I can retry or cancel. Tried uninstalling the app and restarting the watch. That didn't work. Going to try a factory reset if no one else has any suggestions. Have a Pixel XL paired to it.

Had to restart my phone and then update the app on the watch. You will also need to set up a pin on the device for it to work correctly.
