How does the PlayStore know what Carrier my Phone is linked to?

Hi there,

living in China I got a few times the message, that the application I look for is not available for my China Unicom S3. Then I was using my German EPLUS Sim Card - and it didn't change that matter. Now, few days later - and all the time being back on Unicom, it suddenly allows me to download these apps - and it says my S3 is a EPLUS phone?

So the question comes up: by what logic determines the shop what carrier my phone belongs to?

It can be a little slow to adjust and pick up on the new sim card. If it is problematic use Market Enabler (on a rooted device) to tell it what to see your phone as. I use it to make the market think I am on T-Mobile.
