I agree with the OP's concern and I've been having this issue since around Dec 2011. I think there's an app or process running on the phone that causes the delay. I've tried resetting to factory and installing apps one by one, but it's never a consistent problem...just happens. The idea...

Some sort of price drop would seem to be expected, but free? If so, that would bring a whole host of users to Android and Sprint. Not a bad thing.
