Have read through this thread a couple time. I don't think anyone resolved trying to get headphones that have VOLUME buttons working, right? I just got in these HTC headphones and the volume doesn't work either. The forward/backward button controls tracks but no way for it to control the volume...

Nevermind... figured it out. I am running Trickdroid which brings back the Android Toggle Bar. You just click the date to make it go away. My Power Save is also optioned so I can turn off the notifications. Not sure if that's because I have a DE or Trickdroid.

I've used this for 2 days now and I think what it is how the notifications come in. If Gmail gets 4 emails at the same time, it lumps it all into one notification. If you select Keep All Notification (or something like that)... it will keep all of them an you can scroll through it on the lock...

It only shows 3 of 4 categories... missed calls, texts, emails, calendar events. Do you have anything else running? Mine was working pretty well. It only shows one bar (thick grayed bar) per category and you can scroll through.
