I had the same issue. Ended up that my problem was I was using an app called "Sound Profile". Once I got the app sound set to the same notification as the system, it quit driving me creazy.

You can do either wireless or cable. Cable will be a bit faster. I would have a full charge on both before starting the smart switch.
