Bill, I did something similar to what you describe and also woke up to 4.1.2. However, once I backed out to the Updates screen, a dialog popped up saying an update had been downloaded and giving an install option. Maybe yours did not download, if you're not getting this option.

I *think* I got them with Power Toggles, IIRC. I used app-based toggles for a few days, before I updated to a ROM that included the functionality. There are other apps that do this, if you prefer a different app.

If you ask Google for an invite, it could take weeks or more likely months, if you get the invite at all. However, after you've been using Voice for awhile, they make invites available to you to share with others.
