I have tried different cables, yes, although none of them are the original cable. But I've tried charging straight from my laptop but with no joy. How do I charge wirelessly?

Hi. My Google Nexus 7 tablet is stuck in some sort of standby mode. It's been charging for almost 17 hours now and when I try to switch on (including holding down power button and volume and/or down for 30+ secs) I just get a blank screen and an empty battery icon - or 5 flashing white lights...
