    Verizon update

Kudos to Verizon for getting the latest security update out this quickly. Hopefully this trend continues.

For those who have the phones how is the Samsung UI

Absolutely. If you've watched any of the videos on the site or elsewhere, you'll see how toned down the UI design is. That translates to the performance, too. It's very fluid and that's coming from a guy who just spent the last 2 months primarily on the Pixel. By the way, thanks for calling it...

    Wow, this phone is snappy!

Better screen, better battery life, better software, better in hand feel, better camera. If you shoot in wide angle a lot or just absolutely can't get used to the fingerprint sensor (I haven't had much of an issue adjusting), then I'd go G6. Otherwise I don't think this is very close in direct...

    Verizon S8 / S8+ Pre-Order Discussion

Anyone aware of when the embargo ends? I usually keep on it, but I haven't this launch. I'd guess it's Tuesday or Wednesday if people are going to be getting them in hand that early.

    Verizon S8 / S8+ Pre-Order Discussion

Yeah no kidding. I'd imagine everyone who preordered will get it this week and you got people fighting about whether it'll be a day or two earlier than launch day. It was a simple observation of a few people, not an indictment of the whole thread, people. Calm down.

    Verizon S8 / S8+ Pre-Order Discussion

Are people really bickering about the delivery dates? Who cares? You'll get it this week. It's a cell phone.

Samsung Galaxy S8 or LG G6?

It's definitely not crap. Far from it.

Samsung Galaxy S8 or LG G6?

I spent a good part of this thread telling people what I wished LG -would have- done, but in regards to what they did do and what people are buying? A solid phone. I would imagine the battery life on the G6 is more than capable of getting most people through a day which is basically standard...

    S8 battery life

The 10nm process on the Snapdragon 835 is going to help, but so is the more efficient display. If I'm not mistaken, I think DisplayMate tagged this display as 10% more efficient than the prior gen on the S7. Given that the display is the biggest battery drain, I'm hoping that added efficiency...

    Samsung Galaxy s8/s8+ (Impressions)

I'm surprised more tech sites aren't picking up on this. I was a little curious as to why they didn't change the hardware at all, but then I think it was Android Authority that pointed out that the sensor had been updated. Even if it's not a huge difference in overall performance, they didn't...

The S8 may be the first phone I hold for 2 years.

I could probably keep the Pixel for 2 years, but I'll undoubtedly purchase both the Note 8 and the Pixel 2---and probably the new iPhone. It's a disorder that I've come to terms with.

    Anyone else having second thoughts?

So disable it or don't buy the phone? Also stay away from Nexus/Pixel devices because if you feel this strongly about Bixby, I can only imagine how you feel about Google Now.

Just ordered so, question about Verizon

I wouldn't get your hopes up, but it's also possible it ships even earlier than that.

Are there any deal breakers for you?

I didn't have an issue with the fingerprint sensor when I used it this past weekend (although that's only the regular S8--can't say the same about the S8+). That said, I know most everyone would be happy if it was embedded in the display like they originally intended. The only thing that I was...

DisplayMate gives the S8 the best screen rating of any smartphone

The Note 7 is the only reason I'm getting the S8. I was pissed about what happened last year--not because of being mad at Samsung, but having to go in a different direction when all I wanted to do was keep the Note. That phone was awesome. The display, the in-hand feel, it was quick, the camera...
