I actually had the same issue. I had a black screen on my Nexus 7 and couldn't do anything. I called Asus and they told me to: 1- plug the Nexus 7 to the power cable as if you were charging it 2- hold down the power button for 20 seconds I followed above steps and my Nexus 7 started up! :)
