My upgrade isn't until October anyhow, so by then the GSIII will be down substantially from now. Plus, the new Galaxy Nexus will (probably) be on the market as well. I just don't want to monkey around with these damned new plans.

So this could potentially be an option? I do not see why it wouldn't, however you never know.

Is it possible to buy the phone on eBay, activate the device, and bypass the new share plans after the June 28th start point? Or do I have to take one up the a$$ by Verizon and lose my unlimited?

Who thinks it will honestly happen? The carrier didn't pick up the SGS II and I personally don't think they will make the mistake again. A report on BGR states that they will pick it up, but BGR is pretty hit or miss.

Does it make sense for Samsung to release a 3G and LTE versions of this device? It doesn't really make much sense to me as the "new" thing is 4G LTE and without it, you're in the dust. I am reading up about this phone and it just doesn't really make sense to me. Why would one do something like...

The blue does look as dark as the black, however the white goes with so much more with other cases and such.

I have never had a phone color other than black but I have seen many other phones (iPhone, HTC One S and X, etc.) in the white and I think it looks sharp as hell. I am leaning towards getting it in white, when and if it releases on VZW, but I was wondering if it was too much of a hassle to keep...
