The source? HTC's spec page for the U11. If you look at the HTC 10's spec page, it clearly lists CDMA bands. The U11 doesn't. I've never not seen a Verizon/sprint voice-capable device not list the CDMA bands.

No sign of CDMA/EVDO bands on their spec sheet has me thinking it doesn't have support for that, and like some others have said: makes the phone useless in plenty of situations. If Verizon flipped all their CDMA to LTE right now, sure. but they've pushed that out to, what, 2019 now? Looks like...

Well, an update: Kies, SmartSwitch, and the OTA updater all said "Up to date" on 5.1.1. Did the Firmware Recovery/update in KIES: it loaded 6.0.1 and the July 2016 security update. So: it's now up to date. And on a factory clean image, too. <shrug> Software lies, apparently.

This before or after the OTA update to the 5x?

The new pen functions look cool and quite handy for quick notes. "jot this down" without having to actually launch an app. And wireless charging.

It probably reset the battery charge information the tablet was storing and it now correctly knows when the battery is and isn't low. Posted via Android Central App

They still do. The deal hasn't cleared yet. Even the writers here make that mistake. Frequently. It's annoying. That said, I do like the larger screen and battery on the Maxx. But the X does fit nicely in the hand.
