    I have used Z4ROOT with no problems either and to back up apps the easiest way is AppBrain which syncs the apps you have with your Gmail account you use for your phone/market anyway. Worth looking into if your messing with your phone. If you run across any problems here is the link to recover...

    Umm it sounds like you are already rooted... If you are booting into recovery... there is no official update.zip if im not mistaken but it is possible to do under many steps. You may want to look into downloading SuperUser and/or RomManager and/or Titanium BackUp and it should give you a status...

    You can go to Settings and then go to USB Settings and select from the following options Samsung Kies or Mass Storage or Ask on Connection. Hope it helps...
